3 reasons why leaps are a BAD IDEA for Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and Balika Vadhu!

Both the shows are in the spotlight for having decided to take the leap. Here's why I think it's pointless...

It is a widespread trend for TV shows to venture into leaps at some point or the other. We recently informed you that shows Diya Aur Baati Hum, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and Balika Vadhu would be taking leaps and the same certainly comes across as a trend which is spreading like wildfire in telly land. Where SNS has already been shown in a time space 10 years from now, BV will see a leap of 11 years. Here are 3 reasons why I think leaps in these shows will be pointless in the long run...Stretch it till it breaks

#After having battled child marriage herself in Balika Vadhu, Anandi's(Toral Rasputra) daughter Nimboli will be seen going through the same rut in the upcoming leap. I believe the viewers have already had their share of witnessing the drama in the past. Repeating the same story will only bore them to death! Why couldn't the makers come up with a new storyline for the leap?

# I firmly believe that Saath Nibhaana Saathiya should have ended with Radha's death. Instead the makers decided to stretch the plot by assigning it a 10 year leap where Gopi is seen returning to the Modi family after having served her punishment in jail. Her kids are all grown up and a new chapter awaits for her and Paridhi. I'm not sure how exciting it is going to be.

Character dheela hai

# A leap should always have some new and interesting elements to offer, especially when it comes to its central character. I believe Nimboli's character in Balika Vadhu would merely be a reflection of her mother Anandi. She will be facing the same turmoil as her, as revealed to us before. So what new should I as a viewer look forward to when it comes to Nimoli's character?

# In Saath Nibhana Saathiya, I was expecting to see Gopi(Devoleena Bhattacharjee) in a more mature, sensible space now that she has emerged as a fighter after having seen a tough time. However, I was disappointed to see her post the leap as I saw nothing new in her character. The only element I look forward to seeing is how her kids have shaped up. But regarding Gopi, I sit back and think, will she bring anything different to the table? I have my doubts!

When drama is overdone

#Leaps according to me are a way of assuring the viewer, that the drama is far from over. I would have been happy with the idea had the drama on the show not been done to death. Balika Vadhu has had its share of tragedy, to the point where it became intolerable in my opinion. Hence, to function along the same lines in the leap, makes me doubtful. Can the viewers take it all in the second time? This is a classic example of when drama is overdone!

# Saath Nibhana Saathiya had its share of ridiculous and exaggerated moments as well. On the top of my head, I can recall- the night where Modi family danced all night to please Radha and her unborn child, Gopi's mission to rescue a trapped snake and many more. In the leap, the drama will revolve around Gopi's kids. But having seen so much of it already, I'm left thinking... not all over again!

I agree with this comment. In fact, Devoleena had said that after the incident the Gopi who we have seen for the last five years will die and she will emerge as a new, stronger Gopi. However, so far I don't see any change in her.

Her character growth was a lot better after the eight year leap where Gopi was shown to be an independent, confident, mature, working single mother. In fact, I think in this period Devoleena's portrayal of Gopi was the best. That is the Gopi that I want to see again.

I agree with you Nikki. But now the circumstances are different. Even I did not see anything new in Gopi. However, without seeing further episodes, I cannot comment whether she has changed or not.

It might develop Nikki.. Gopi's character will develop. She has many things to do...
Sort out Kokila's situation
Kinjal's separation
Ahem
M/V
Paridhi/Rashi..
So she will be stronger for sure to handle all these.. at least I am hoping CVs will do justice..😊

I understand what you guys are saying.
But I'm talking about how the incident with Radha would have affected her. Gopi ended up stabbing to death her own sister, the sister who violently beat her up and chucked her in the river to die. So far they have only shown her look at the sari she was wearing that time and having flashbacks. But an incident as horrific as that would change you as a person, be it slightly.

I still would have understood if she had her family's support all this time. But no one even kept in touch, which she doesn't even seem concerned about.

What I'm trying to say is, killing someone is one of the most traumatic experiences a person can go. If they wanted to show her go to this extent, then they should have shown how it had an impact on her as a person. By not showing this, I feel it is a bit of a blooper by the CVs.

As far as solving the family's problems is concerned, yeh toh uske bayen haath ka khel hai. 😆
