Who says saas-bahus have lost their charm?

The top two fiction shows on TV today are typical saas-bahu shows like Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Diya Aur Baati Hum.

Both are neck to neck in terms of ratings. Whoever said kitchen politics is no more a part and parcel of Indian television! What's interesting is how Saathiya has zoomed up to the top slot after slipping down in the last few months. The drama surrounding the character Gopi has helped the show. Meanwhile, Diya Aur Baati Hum, that has been dominating the Top Ten chart for the longest time will now have to get in some twist if it wants to beat Saathiya.

Great post well said but saathiya has always been in top 10

Only for couple of months show was at 10 position but now mainly top 3

I think maybe part of the charm is that a lot of women can relate to the typical saas-bahu roles... but maybe not to the extent that some of the serials portray the saas/bahu relationships.

Especially their characters and I think a lot of people would like a gopi type bahu like her innocence
