It's too bad that dirty politics, which often are the undercurrents of careers - perhaps more so in the entertainment industry, superseded retaining a fantastic actress. I am disappointed in Star Plus for firing Gia. Gia should have read the fine print, i.e, hired an entertainment business lawyer, prior to signing the dotted line regarding the conditions of her contract. I am surprised that she chose the short-term JDJ show over SNS. Perhaps, to showcase that she can do more than crying and playing demure "meri Gopi bahu." Generally, it is not a wise move to burn bridges with an employer before moving on to another one. Whatever her path now, I wish her the best.
When Kalpna Bohra, who played the role of Kesar, left Pratigya due to personal reasons (she was moving to Australia/New Zealand? w/her hubby), and Aalika Sheikh replaced her, I wondered how the new actress would compare to the previous one. Luckily, each of these actresses are superb in their own right and talented. There is no comparison between the two because individually they could take on the role of Kesar and portray her impeccably.
In the case of Gia's role, I would really like to be positive about the new actress' caliber to foray ahead with portrayal of Gopi bahu. I'd also like to see a fresh take on the stagnated SNS drama - perhaps Gopi's role can include being a woman of success beyond trailing behind "maaji", singing songs (that hardly suit her), and Green tea for Ahem. I'd love to see Gopi role expand beyond these tasks. Hopefully, with the entry of the new actress, the storyline will progress towards a "woman of today" whose values embody "traditions of yesteryear").
Stay positive, folks!
