There is nothing now that can stop Ahem from thinking anything less for his Gopi.
Having just made up and is on speaking terms with his wife the last thing he ever wanted to do was to upset her again. This time it had to do with burning her sari. He understood instantly while Gopi spoken to herself wondering how it happened and he apologised profusely. If the tables were turned, she was on the receiving end of his foul temper but he was amazed with her reaction yet again. How can she be so tolerant, he thought.
As the topic at the breakfast table was the continued praises for Gopi and her singing, Ahem made sure he extended it to her excellent cooking skills too. He without any hesitation expressed his praises to his mum, as though taking permission from her to then tell Gopi.
He certainly was fish out of water at the sari shop. His intentions were admirable but he was clueless on her tastes and likes. Nonetheless there was nothing stopping him from making his purchase, anticipating what her appearance would be in all those three saris would be while the shopkeeper talked about them.
His excitement to give it to her in person was having the better of him. Even if it meant cancelling his meetings and delaying his work matters, he wanted to see her delight on her face and hear her sweet voice. He felt he owed her this for his carelessness.
However, what followed on thereafter was something he never imagined ever to happen. Unknowingly he fell victim to Anita's plot to harm Gopi. It had to be brave Gopi who rescued him from the towering kitchen inferno. Her reply to his question left him in awe of her giving nature. He thereafter ensured like the previous night they walked to safety side by side together as one.
Ahem's life was saved by Gopi once before when a snake crossed his path at the naag puja. Then he thanked her but immediately hurt her tenfold. This time is he set to show his gratitude to her tenfold?
