Like everyone else, I have been confused seeing Ahemji's reaction to Anita and her memories. I think this all has been created by the CV's to keep the viewers hooked to the show by making them question his behaviour. I don't want to analyze that any more. Instead I am going to discuss here if Ahemji truly loves Gopi.
Lets take it step by step. The first year, he absolutely hated her. There were always signs he was physically attracted to her. In his subconscious mind, he always knew she was the right person for her because his mom chose her for him and his mom can not be wrong even though he told his mom after the nani track that Gopi is not for him. He finally admitted though how Gopi was a good person when he supported her for continuing her education. That's when he started to respect her and care about her as a friend.
When Gopi was fighting for her life and he picked her up to take her to the hospital, he won't let go of her when Jigarji asked him to put her in the van. He kept her in his lap. That's when for the first time I thought he loved her. He had crossed over the threshold of friendship, respect and physical attraction to the beginning of becoming her saathiya. If he was just thinking of her as a friend and a nice person, he wouldn't be in so much shock at her getting hurt. He would have been in his senses and let go of her to put her in the van to get to the hospital.
Since then, he supported her and nursed her to health, which we could still think he did as a friend, but his missing her at his office (can't see Ahemji missing a friend like that), getting a cell phone for her, massaging her feet, coming home early from work (knowing his mom will disapprove), almost crying when she fell, washing her hair, yelling in the kitchen when she almost fell, trying to bring Raji together for her, missing her on V-day, trying to woo her day after holi (I could never see him doing that as a friend) and dreaming about her, all tell me he does love her.
Compared to Gopi, how was he with Anita? It seems she was the aggressor in their relatioship. We saw how he told Anita he loved her only when she asked him to tell her. She is the one who proposed to him. She wrote letters to him. We don't see her having any notes from him. She only has a picture. And all this happened when his family wasn't around. He behaves with Gopi differently because he is conscious of his family there. He is very cautious with her. He probably gave gifts to Anita, but remember his reaction, when he thought Gopi gave him a gift. He is shy around his family. Anita probably got rid of his conservative and reserved nature, so he did all these things with her, but with Gopi he probably respects her more and he is very cautious how he behaves with her. Above all, he hasn't admitted to himself that he loves her, so how can he tell this to Gopi openly. In Anita's case it seemed they said 'I love you' to each other meaninglessly all the time. With Gopi these three words take on a different and much deeper meaning.
Now the CV's are just trying to confuse us so that we don't guess where the track is going. What gave me hope was when he sits in he car and Gopi asks if he OK, his face softens up a little even though he doesn't answer her. I hope the CV's know what they are doing. I wouldn't want them to butcher his character. May be they themselves don't know yet which direction they want to go for now. Will be extremely disappointed if they show Ahemji pulled towards Anita and he is made to choose between the two woman. In my mind there should be no choice here. He should be clear in his mind and should know soon enough Gopi is his life. She is his true saathiya and he better start behaving like her true saathiya too.
