Gopi entered their room with happiness bubbling out of her every pore as she remembered how her husband had expressed his love for her. She shyly remembered those sweet moments she shared with him & she could not contain her happiness. She felt like a new bride who was at the start of a new journey with her husband sharing each other's love & happiness. Her happiness was pouring out of her soul & she wanted to get ready for him , her husband in true sense. She selected a special bridal colour saree to please him & entice him so that he would feel special on their special night together as they would reunite in heart & soul !!!
With the deep love Gopi felt for Ahem, anticipating on how he would react to see her decked & waiting for him like a new bride, Gopi dressed selecting carefully things which would enhance her beauty & please him. In the evening she dressed in colours he would love & now she was dressing up to be liked by him !!! In the privacy of their special room, she hoped that she would learn the ways of loving him & pleasing him as she was naive when it came to that. Gopi hoped that this was the begining of their life together as a married couple at every turn of happiness , sadness, challenging times life had for them.
With realising Ahem was at the door Gopi felt very shy & hid her face under her hands. As he switched on the light & walked to up to her, her heart was beating very fast & she knew she could not avoid him for long & turned towards him as he called out her name anticipating to see her husband with full of love for her.
Ahem walked into the room with complete head ache & irritation of not knowing what has happened to him the whole afternoon. With his mom also reminding him about not fulfilling the task she had asked him, it put him off completely. As he walked in to the room, he looked around to see the bedsheet was crumpled & the room was unkept. He took out his irritation of not being in control of what happened to him & how he slept in holi clothes, on her, his wife whom he taught as his own. He spoke out on what was bothering him of how he did not remember anything after eating the prasad. He was suprised to see her dressed up at this point of time & questioned her. During navratri time when Gopi had dressed up, he could not take his eyes away from her beauty but today he could not see past his irritation to realise how beautiful his wife was dressed & the thought never crossed his mind that she could have dressed up just for him at this point of night. But the moment Ahem saw Gopi's tears, his heart melted & in a very soft voice he asked her to change the drapes of the bed. Ahem thought that those tears were at him shouting at her for not keeping the room clean but not for a second had he realised that there could be more to it. He knew when ever she was upset her eyes gave away & in the recent past he started to read her eyes, but today he could not see beyond the tears to see the deep grief those eyes carried with them because of him.
Gopi's hopes started to shatter bit by bit as she heard her husband's irritation on how he did not remember anything which happened in the afternoon. She processed every word out of his mouth to realise all the dreams & hopes she had about them starting a new life together shatter just in front of her. As she realised that he did not rememeber anything of those special moments they shared, her heart wept not knowing what could be done. She was in a daze as she went ahead to clear those very things which reminded about the sweet memories they had shared as it irritated him !!!
As Ahem realised that both of them banged into each other, he did not hesitate to say sorry to her , though it was not his fault. Even in his bad shape, Ahem still could not see her troubled & was in his small ways trying to take care of her. But what he did not realise was the deep wound that he had created in her heart as he did not remember what has happened between them. As Ahem realised that few of her bangles were broken & was scattered on the floor, it initially irritated him, but the moment she mentioned that they could have broken as she tried to remove them, he was concerned for her. He immediately asked if she was hurt & relaxed when she nodded negative.
In a daze of not knowing what has happened & what was happeneing,Gopi went about the task of changing the bed drapes & she heard Ahem asking for his pillow & bedsheet. She turned around to hand them over to him but the moment his hand brushed her's, she could not touch him anymore & she felt she could not relate to the person in front of her. Gopi was lost & confused not knowing what has happened & continued with changing the bed drapes, as she turned around to see Ahem sleep, it broke her heart. She kept observing him hoping that he will get up any moment to tell her how much he loves her. She was trying to figure out who her real Ahemji was...the one in the afternoon who showed her how much he loved her or the one who was in front of her who did not even remember what had happened between them. In the darkness of their room, as she started to remove her ornaments the same ones she had worn for him, her heart could not hold on the hurt anymore & she cried herself out at her situation of not being able to share with anyone especially him on what has happened...She cried at her fate that love was always a mirage for her & when she extended to touch it , it always left her ...she cried at her shattered dreams & hopes of a loved filled life with her husband !!!
After a good night's rest Ahem woke up relaxed & his eyes immediately sought for her...he realised she was not in the room & the bed drapes were set in their place. Ahem had got used to getting up with Gopi & looking at her either peacefully sleeping or setting things in their room as the day just began. But today he realised that she was not around & also realised that she did not wake him up. As realisation set-in that he would get late for work, he reached out to her as his days did not start without spending atleast few minutes with her in the privacy of their room as she took care of him & his needs. He knew she will ensure everything would be taken care for him to reach office on time. As he went searching for her he was guided to the kitchen. He walked into the kitchen & waited for Gopi to put her pallu on her head.
Ahem got so used to Gopi taking care of his every need without even him asking her. As he realised she was busy in the kitchen, he asked her to get his green tea to their room & help him with taking out his office clothes as she always took care. As Gopi handed him the tea in the kitchen itself, he observed that she did not even glance at him & she was very quite. As she tried to immerse herself in the kitchen work, he reminded her about his clothes & saw her walk away from him without a word. Few days back Ahem saw how happy Gopi was when he insisted that only she make his tea & today he is confused at her behaviour. Ahem's day starts with seeing Gopi shyly smile at him & take care of him with complete attention on just him...but today neither did she smile or blush nor did she even say a word to him. He is perplexed & confused at her behaviour not knowing why she was unusually quite !!!
Ahem has already seen the changes in Gopi & is confused, so will he realise that it is only because of him that she is hurt...& even if he does realise she is hurt because of him, he does not know why she is hurt & he knows the chances of her telling him are very negligable ...without knowing what has happened, how will he be able to heal her heart & express his love to her !!!
On the other hand Gopi is completely heartbroken, even when she took back her vows , even when Ahem left her at her mama's place never to be bought back again , even when he at every point told her how much he hated her & could not stand her, she absorbed all of it as her Kanaji's will & lived life every moment, every day with a hope that someday her kanaji will fulfill all her wishes & that her husband will love her. But today after seeing her husband change over a period of time towards her , taking care of her, being there for her , being concerned for her & also her heart telling her that he loves her & also experiencing his love on this special day in her life & with turn of events of her husband not remembering anything she feels completely let down by him & her kanaji. Today she is badly hurt & her very faith that someday that her husband will love her & that their relationship will also move forward in love, is badly broken !!! Will her heart ever be healed of the pain she is feeling seeing at the failure of her relationship !!!!
