Munni, I am guilty of making one of these posts. It was made in fun. Have I seen it in real life? No, but I have heard about worse. This is a open forum. I agree my humor was crass, but it was made to let out some frustrations with the current track. Also, recently, I saw a mother discussing similar topic in another serial with the son in front of the whole family. That was in bad taste, but it got me thinking - Could something like that happen in SNS? So I made a funny post to prepare myself for worse. We all know anything can happen in the world of these serials. We can rant and rave about them, but we are not the writers.

I agree that some relations are sacred, but we do have freedom of speech. I see posts here about tools and other things. Are they in good taste? Still, for fun I have replied in such posts. I am normally a very serious person. I let loose on this forum. If people are offended by my posts, I apologize. I see a lot of posts that I don't like and I just stay away from them. I hope you have found some of my posts good. I am a mixture of good and bad. I feel disappointed and hurt to be singled out for one of my posts. I was having a good time here, but may be I should refrain from making comments on this forum. I don't know if I will be able to completely stay away, but now, I will always be afraid that my comments will hurt other people no matter what I say since you can't expect everyone to agree to your view points. You said you were OK with Dostana type humor, I felt offended by that humor, so I didn't read that story. To each their own.

Sorry for my long rant and sorry for my posts.

aris ... i see your point... i am not against fun... i have clearly mentioned what is offending to me... mocking of my relations,,,,
but again this is just my view on how sometimes such posts are revolting. People even now have the choice to take it or leave it.. This is not going to curtail somebody's freedom. that was never the intent.. Nor is it going to stop someone from making one of these damned posts if they like it..

But all we are saying is that sometimes the level of decency is crossed all in the name of humor and it would be great if those who make such posts think once before writing something demeaning.. That is all..

fair enough...humor is relative.. one finds it funny the other finds offensive... i am voicing out what i found to be offensive... i hope i have the right to voice out my opinion in an open forum😊

OK Where to start. Certainly not at my res post from the middle of last night 😆

First off guys I just want to let you know that I understand and respect your opinions on this matter. And indeed your right to express those opinions 👍🏼

However I am going to once again express my right to disagree. For me there is no such thing as a sacred cow. And any and every topic and situation/relationship or anything else for that matter is fair game for humor. Even death.

With regards to taking offense at "black humor" you need to ask yourself the following questions.

Why am I offended?
Am I offended because Poster ABC said something?
Am I offended because it wasn't Poster XYZ who said it?
Am I offended because of my own moral code?
Am I offended because of my cultural influences?
Am I offended because this is something that would offend my parent/grandparent/great grandparent?
Is the reason for my offence valid?
Can I make the choice of not being offended?

Because to be honest I regard taking offence as a choice. It is a choice you make as opposed to not being offended. Not being offended does not mean you accept what is said. But you choose to move past it because to take offence would mean little or nothing.

We are all brought up with different mores, social standards and moral codes. That does not mean that anyone is necessarily right or wrong or better or worse. They are just different.

With regards to the offence taken at the digs taken at the mother/son relationship which is sacred. Sacred to who? To mothers? To sons? I have known mothers who don't give a hoot about their sons and the favor is returned. I have also known mothers and sons who make the other the centre of their universe. Guess what, that's not healthy either. So why take this as being some ultimate relationship that should not even be joked about?

Devar/bhabhi. Elder BIL/Younger sil. Do you guys have any idea how many of these relationships end up being more then what you see on the surface? Including enough which end up as physical relationships? It's a fact of life. And you cannot hide from it or pretend it does not exist. So nope nothing sacred there.

I know that I am going to offend just about everyone on the forum with my post but I stand by my view. There are no sacred cows. Not for ShaunSA or Ashwin for that matter for that is indeed who I am in real life as well. This is the final word I will say on the matter and I will not post on it again.

However, my humor and most especially my dark humor will remain the same irrespective of offence caused/taken. That is who I am and that is who I am comfortable being 😎

Damn that ended up being way too long! Sorry guys 😳

Yes a lot of such relations do exist. In a lot of cultures a man is socially obligated to marry his brother's widow. In the culture I hail from one can marry children of a paternal aunt or maternal uncle. In some other cultures all kinds of first cousins can marry. In many communities of south India marrying one's maternal uncle is common and regarded as desirable, whereas in some parts of north India the gotra system exists wherein even strangers can be classified as brothers and sisters and they are not allowed to marry. What is desirable in one culture might be a taboo and cause offence in another culture.

I agree with you vidisha marrying a maternal uncle his son or paternal aunts s son is perfectly fine in some cultures while for some people this might not be acceptatalf. Lol the gopi jigar comments were not on the main forum where it would hurt sentiments of majority of gohem fans.
