Problems with 'ideal bahu' - Hetal edition

Twenty years ago, I'm sure Hetal was the type of bahu any typical television saas would drool over, similar to Gopi. After all, she does housework, doesn't start trouble (which can be interpreted in various ways), is submissive, and keeps everyone happy and smiling.

The problem is actually in balancing. Hetal's too soft, but soft things get squished. Koki's hard, but I think out of Hetal and Koki, Koki is slightly more "balanced" than Hetal.

But I think with regards to Gopi.. Gopi is better than Hetal. She has great love for all which is very sincere and she is loyal to the people she loves even if it is her maami.
Plus Gopi becomes strong when she thinks someone is doing something that is not correct. She asks the person directly.. Like she asked Rashi.
Gopi may be timid when it comes to protecting herself but she becomes a lioness when her loved ones are affected. So yeah.. Gopi is an ideal bahu and she is indeed lucky to have Kokila..

But Hetal 👎🏼 is no Gopi,..

I think Gopi and Hetal are similar in their simple and loving personalities. I don't know if I would describe Gopi as "strong" in the sense of confrontations, because even though she might directly ask the person, that's where she stops. I would say Pratigya or Priya (from Maryada) are more of lionesses than Gopi, but Gopi has improved since the beginning.

I do not know about the other two 😛 But Gopi had to be strong.. Not strong as in confront and get your rights strong.. She is just strong within.. Else she would have gone mad with all the things Urmi and Rashi made her go through..
When she is sure that somebody is wrong she makes a point and does it in her own style. Even when Aham was about to raise his hand on Kinjle, she stopped him knowing fully well about how his anger is.. When Rashi filed the case, she made her point but then she knew because unlike Aham, Rashi does what she wants.. There are more instances when she has fought for what she thinks is right.
So yes. Gopi may not confront others but she is not Hetal..

But look at what kind of saas she has become. If it wasn't for Kokila, Raashi would have ruled that house and had Hetal as her maid. She's a good example of how this "ideal Indian bahu" is a horrible idea. Gopi got lucky that she didn't get a horrible saas (Kokila is just extremely disciplined but nice at heart). Unfortunately Hetal was not lucky with Raashi but she messed up her opportunities to fix her. And now she is ruining her relationship with Kokila by being passive aggressive for a bratty daughter in law that should not have been brought back in the first place...
