Hi friends, it's a mere co-incidence that I started writing this story last year somewhere around holi and im continuing it again on holi this time.. would love to hear ur comments and views..
Part 6:
The next morning Dr. Neeta was waiting at a bench near the main gates of the park for Ahem. To her surprise Ahem smiled and waved at her as soon as he saw her waiting for him. She knew that her patients felt relieved after discussing their issues and incidents with her but in this case it was way more than that. They sat at the same place near the river when Ahem took out a photograph from his wallet and showed it to Dr. Neeta. The photograph was taken at some prize distribution event. It showed Ahem towards the left , a boy in school uniform in the middle and a lady at the right. Ahem and the boy held a gold trophy while the lady had her hands on the boy's shoulders. It looked like a complete family picture where all three of them stood smiling. Pointing at the lady, Dr. Neeta was about to say something when Ahem spoke, " Yes that's Gopi.. isn't she looking pretty in this pink sari..look at the smile at her face..says everything that how blessed she feels to have a son who makes her proud everytime.. look at the satisfaction she has on her face..speaks volumes.. isn't it ?? " Dr. Neeta at once intervened and said, " Even you carry the same look on your face.. you must be proud of YOUR SON ?? "
A tear dropped from his eye and he said, " Yes I am.. I am proud of my son.. my son.. hmm ". He took the photograph from Dr. Neeta and placed it carefully back into his wallet. And then looking at the river, shining in the morning rays he started speaking, " That day when she ran away after telling me that her parents are dead.. I never knew that all the castles I had made in my dreams would tumble down suddenly.. everything had changed in her life..she was no more the Gopi whom I knew.. in those holidays I saw her thrice.. once in the market.. and twice at the balcony of her home where she sat alone thinking something. Whenever she saw me she just gave a half smile and walked away. It was painful to look at her in that condition. When I asked one of my friends , Raghav ,who lived in that colony, he told me that a few months back the girl lost her parents. She had no closer relatives than her mama so she came here. Her aunt shouted in front of the entire society that her mama had gone mad and that they cannot afford another burden on their family, that in today's expensive world its difficult to survive and so on… He told that her aunt treated her no more than a servant.. I wanted to help her at any cost but could do nothing..absolutely nothing.. no one at home knew anything about gopi..when I had fever during those vacations, mom thought that maybe it was because of climate change and soon I was sent back to hostel. After I completed my schooling I had some plans at the back of my head. I thought I would apply in a college in Rajkot itself and tell mom that I wanted to help dad alongside in the business, while the real reason was that I wanted to be in that town for Gopi. I thought that maybe someday I would introduce her to my family saying that she's our neighbor and if lucky things would work out. But Dr. Neeta as I said earlier that we are mere puppets in the hands of god..he plays his game.. and in our case played it too bad.. The day I came back to Rajkot, I came to know from Raghav that Gopi got married a few weeks back. All knew that she was a burden to that family and so they planned of an easy way to get rid of her. Raghav told me that she got married to a reputed police officer, much older to her and now lives in Dehradun. I was shattered..all my dreams..all my hopes..all was gone..
