So according to the pundit Kokila invited, he comes to Modi Bhavan every year to do this Mahashivratri pooja.
And according to Kokila, she organizes this pooja every year
From what I remember of Maha Shivratri last year, Gopi made the statue out of rice flour, and the family went to the mandir in the evening (which I also think they mentioned they do every year)
I wont call this a blooper, but a lack of consistency.
They did the same thing with janamashtami last year, and the year before that.
