After picking Gopi from her mami's house, Ahem was at peace driving back home. His Gopi was with him coming back to him & his home & it relieved his heart from the pain he underwent at her separation. From the moment he laid his eyes on her at her mami's house & as he drove them back home, his attention was just completely on her. He observed that she was worried & lost ...it concerned him & immediately asked her if everything was fine. The answer she gave did not satisfy him & he knew that he needs to get her to open & talk with him.
The moment she exclaimed the name of the Kulfi shop in her excitement of seeing it, he immediately asked her what it was. He listened keenly as she shared her childhood experiences of how her mamaji used to bring them here sometimes. He immediately grabbed the opportunity of spending time with her & pleasing her with the kulfi she likes. He stopped by the kulfi stall justifying it to her saying bi-chance since we are here lets have kulfi. He saw how her face lit up with his suggestion & was happy with the decision he made. He was a perfect businessman who identified the opportunity to please his wife. He absorbed how his wife was happy with such simple things in life. In the past when ordering bangles for Rashi & his mom, he told her she knew things better than him & today also he continued to follow her choice. When he was lost on what can be ordered, he immediately sought her suggestion. His ego underwhich he always treated others especially her as a level below him is completely melted with her peaceful nature & now he treats her as his equal with whom he consults & shares. As she suggested that he should also eat kulfi & that he would like it, he immediately went ahead & order one for himself...though the cleanliness part worried him, he went ahead with her suggestion to have kulfi !
In the past Gopi's MIL thought her how to start a conversation with her husband asking about the weather etc...As they were going to get the puja done for the car, she initiated the small talk only not to be reciprocated by him ! Today he wanted to talk to her so much & not knowing how to start, initiated small talk about the weather !! With her one word reply he was disappointed as he did not know how to proceed further.
As they were waiting for the kulfi, a flower vendor approached Ahem to buy a rose for his beautiful wife, he did not know how to react, he was put on spot & he was shy..he observed her for her reaction but as she moved her head down, he did not know if she would appreciate it or not & said no to the vendor. But as the vendor reminded him about today being the special day, he did not want to lose out on the opportunity to ask her to be his valentine. With the rose in his hand he turned to his Valentine, extended the rose to her & observed all her reactions...her happiness, her shyness, her smile & slowly put all what he felt for her & wished her a "Happy Valentine's Day" !!! He did not know her feelings, he did not know if she would accept it, but he could no more hold the love he was feeling for her within himself. He took the opportunity of the special day to tell her what he feels for her...nothing extravagent, not big but with a small red rose just like him ! He was on tender hooks till she took the extended rose, he relaxed that his feelings were accepted by her but the moment she wished him back a "Happy Valentine's Day", he was in awe of her & was completely lost in her that what he was feeling was reciprocated by his wife !!! Did he feel humbled that she understood the meaning of this special moment & extended it back to him !
As she realised & voiced it to him that she could not eat the entire kulfi, he told her to eat as much as she wants & rest of it he would have...today he reduced the distance between them completely...as lovers & as husband & wife, people share leftover food from the same cutlery between them ! & today Ahem proved that he has moved a step forward from the platonic relationship they are sharing ! Did he also realise that he started to like her tastes !!!
As they entered their home, they did not expect that the entire family would be waiting for them. He took the lead & explained to his mom that he had already informed Rashi. On being questioned on why they were late, he observed Gopi & knew she was scared, he answered back his mom saying they stopped by to have kulfi. He did not take her name or let her feel guilty. As he decided to skip dinner, he addressed Gopi directly asking her to bring his tea & come into their room. He did not just ask her to give the tea in the room but asked her to comeoff to their room. Today he is comfortable in front of his family to tell her to take care of him & come into their room. Did he want her to be just in front of his eyes to satisfy his hearts desire of having her always with him & not away from him !
In the room Gopi found her Ahemji completely lost in thought. When she offered him tea he was taken back & when she asked him what happened, he shared with her all his thoughts, listened to her as she explained & expressed his helplessness, on how to pacify his mom ! For Ahem Gopi has become his confident with whom he can share anything & everything from his happiness, to things which trouble him to his helplessness. She has become part of him !
What will Ahem do next to move forward in their relationship? With his mom not happy with him , will it come to a point where in he will have to choose between what his mom says & what his heart needs?
