Tides are a turning part 1

Koki and Ahem's relationship was becoming strained. Ever since she blasted Ahem about not attending the meeting they had avoided each other. Chirag kaka had told Ahem's mom that she is not allowed to interfere in business matters and it is he (Chirag) who will decide weather Ahem works or not. And he decided Ahem is a much needed addition to the company and they could not afford to loose him. This had driven Koki over the brink of furious. She thought everyone in her family was now starting to ignore her. And her son...the son who would not take any major steps without his mothers permission was talking back and not listening to her...What happened to her Ahem?

She then had her answer and went to see about it. She arrived at Gopi's room and knocked on the door. Gopi looked up from her work of folding clothes and said "Maji why are you standing there...please come in". Koki was in no mood to play nice so she started blasting Gopi that it is because of her that her son is talking back to her and it is Gopi's doing that her son has started ignoring his work. And Koki put a box down on the dresser and told Gopi tell your husband I don't need anything from him. And let him know that these kangans for me are nothing without his absolute loyalty towards me. Then she said that she regretted the day she decided to bring Gopi into her and her sons life. She said that her son was always unhappy with Gopi and now she is making Koki unhappy as well. Koki then said "You are nothing without me and how dare you come between a mother and her son?" Gopi stood there crying...not knowing what to say she just listened and let her Maji pour all her hatred out on her. Better her than her Ahemji. What Gopi and Koki didn't know was that Ahem had already come home and was listening to all this. He had tears in his eyes thinking why has my mom become so bitter? She was strict but had a huge heart...so what happened all of a sudden. When Ahem walked in and let his presence known Koki turned around and glared at Ahem and said you are home early again? I should have expected this. So I think Ahem it's time you went to live on your own. It seems you don't need me anymore so what is the use of your living here. Either you leave here or make her leave...Looking at Gopi, Koki finished her sentence. Ahem thought he was dreaming but then he saw the tell tale sign from his mom about how serious she was. She grabed her pallu and left the room without looking at either GoEm.

Ahem went to Gopi and stood in front of her and said "I am sorry you had to bear her anger for me. Gopi just went to Ahem and cried while hugging him. Ahem this time hugged her back and hugged her tight to him. He then kissed her forehead and said I am sorry for everything, Gopi". I will try and make it right for you and me. I don't know how but I will". Gopi looked up at him and wiped her tears and said "I am with you Ahemji...I won't let you do anything alone...ever". Saying that they both hugged each other again and then Gopi released him and said I will go and get your tea for you while you freshen up. She left Ahem in the room deep in thought of what to do next. He decided to talk to his kaka and his dad and get their opinion. He changed and before Gopi came back with the tea he left for his kaka's room. He knocked and when he was given permission to enter he did and told his kaka his thoughts and asked "what is your thinking"? Parag who had been standing outside said "I am with you dikra. As long as you want my opinion I am with you and I will always be". Ahem stood up and went to his dad and said thank you papa. Chirag also gave Ahem his blessings and said to do what he feels right and they are with him. He then hugged Parag and thanked his kaka and left for his room.

He told Gopi his plan...He said "I think we should leave here and go and stay at this apartment that the company owns. It is near here and also staying away from here for now will help in calming everyone involved. Gopi was doubtfull so Ahem took her hands and said "Please Gopi. I need you now more than ever. I know you are always thinking of the family, but today I need you to only think of us. Can you do that?" Gopi reluctantly agreed and they both started packing their bags. When they came downstairs the whole family had gathered thanks to Chirag. Ahem and Gopi said their goodbyes and took everyones blessings including Koki. She just touched their heads...but didn't say anything. Just when they were about to leave Hetal kaki told them to wait and went into the kitchen and came back with a tiffin box. She handed it to Gopi and said eat this for today...you can start cooking there from tomorrow. Gopi took it and when she started to become hesitant Ahem looked at her and she was looking at Koki. He went to her and said "Please Gopi don't let me down. I can't do this alone". Gopi looked at him and they both left.

At the apartment after Ahem had shown Gopi around she went into the kitchen to warm up dinner. When they sat down to eat Ahem saw Gopi had laid out dishes for the whole family and he felt sad thinking why did this have to happen. He knew that if he had stayed Koki would not stop from telling him or Gopi how to live their lives and she needed to let him make decisions regarding his life with Gopi. After dinner Ahem was sitting in the bedroom on the bed, Ahem was reading a book and Gopi was putting all the clothes away. Ahem saw that Gopi was still not sure about what was going on. So he got up and went to her and took the clothes from her hand and put them back in the suit case and held her hands and said "I know you are not happy without the whole family together, but trust me. I know it seems harsh but this is a long time coming. My mom just needs to understand I can make my own decisions".

He then took Gopi's hand and led her to the bed and said lets just go to sleep and we will talk of all this tomorrow...ok? Gopi nodded and sat on the bed while Ahem removed all the stuff. He then hugged Gopi and said I like it here with you. I can actually be myself without the fear of someone walking in on us. Gopi smiled a little and blushed a lot. Ahem then leaned in and kissed her on the lips and the kiss slowly was taken over by passion and they had their SR. It was the best night of Gopi's life. She was lying there next to a sleeping Ahem and could not believe Ahem had made her his forever. When Ahem stirred and opened his eyes he said "why are you not sleeping? Are you still upset?" Gopi nodded her head no and said "I was making sure this is not a dream..." Ahem then took her in his arms and hugged her and made her go to sleep. In the morning Parag visited Gopi and said "I will try to come every day. I miss you both dikra. But I am happy to see Ahem stand up for himself and you. Gopi slowly adjusted to life in her new home. Everyone from the family visited except Rashi ben and Maji. Papa always made excuses for Maji, but Gopi knew the real reason. Even her mama and Dhaval bhai visited her once in a while. Gopi kept herself busy all day and had the time of her life at night with her husband...A husband who now loved her and made love to her everynight. She was content for now...

Last part...

Ahem still found it amazing that his wife was so simple and so naive about life. He had to teach her not to trust outsiders so easily and to really see people for what they really are. Gopi had at times told Ahem of how Rashi ben had tried to "help" her leave MM so it would make him happy. Ahem knew he did not like Rashi, but now he would make sure she did nothing to ruin his wifes happiness. He was sure Gopi would never admit her cousins or her mami's faults...so her had talked to mama and was shocked to learn of how Gopi was raised. No wonder she was uneducated. Her mami had her doing a maids work instead of studying. Now Ahem had promised to himself he would do everything in his power to make Gopi's life better than it was. He loved her and he never missed an opportunity to show it.

And time flew for the next few months. One day when Ahem came home he found Gopi feeling sick and she said her stomach hurt and she could not stand. So Ahem picked her up and put her in the car to take her to the hospital. The doctor examined her and told Ahem she had been pregnant but had lost the baby. Ahem was shocked. He did not even think of this. He needed to go see Gopi. When he went to her he found her crying and saying "I am sorry Ahemji, I could not even take care of our child..." Ahem just hugged her and said it is not your fault. But that we can try again as soon as she feels ready. He knew Gopi would fall into a depression and he had to do everything to make sure that did not happen. He now took his broken wife home and insisted she rest. He called his kaki and told her what happened and asked if he could talk to his mom. Koki refused to talk...even when Hetal told her the reason Ahem needed her. But Koki's ego was getting in the way. Ahem once again heart broken hung up after Hetal kaki promised to send food to them. And as promised Hetal kaki came herself and gave them the food. Ahem said Gopi refused to eat anything and she needs her energy if she is to get better faster. Ahem said if mom was here I would feel so much better. Even now she refuses to come? Kaki just told him to forget all this now and that she would try and feed Gopi. But Gopi was not eating only crying. Ahem decided to go and sit in the living room as he could not see his wife like this. A half hour later Hetal kaki came and said I need to go Ahem dikra. I am sorry. Ahem said no problem and went into the bedroom and tried to feed Gopi with a lot of sweet words of love and comfort. But Gopi was not even focusing on him. She was off in her own world thinking of the baby she lost. No matter how many times Ahem promised they would try again...nothing seemed to get thru to Gopi.

Ahem missed the next two days of work. Chirag and Hetal had been talking about Gopi's health and how she was still not been eating and Ahem was worried sick. Chirag said Ahem had been working from home and he still made sure the business would not falter. Chirag also said Ahem would often quote his mom that work always comes first. Koki had been listening to all this and she had tears in her eyes. She was worried about her vau and her son. She decided to go and pay them a visit.

Ahem was sitting near Gopi and still trying to feed her. He had succeded for a few bites and then she was back in her own world. Ahem had given up...he did not know how to bring Gopi back to him. So he took the dish and was heading back to the kitchen when the doorbell rang. He went to answer the door and found his mom standing there. He put the dish down and hugged his mom and said why did you take so long mom...I really needed you? Koki said now stop crying like a child and hand me the food..I will feed my Gopi vau. Koki took the dish and headed to the bedroom. Ahem followed and stayed out of sight. When Koki came into Gopi's view, Gopi suddenly came out of her dream world and said Maji you? Koki went to her vau and hugged her and said I came because I heard my Gopi vau was not taking care of herself. Gopi hugged her Maji and cried and Koki just held her and stroked her hair and said calm down beta...Gopi then looked at Maji and said are you still mad at us? Koki said no I was never mad...I just had a hard time letting go of my son. I am sorry Gopi vau. I am sorry for putting you both thru all this. Ahem came out of hiding and hugged his mom and put his head on her lap and sat on the floor. Ahem said mom I am so sorry for not listening to you. Please forgive me. Koki said only in one condition...You both have to come back home with me now. As it is Gopi vau needs to rest for a week or so, and she is not going to get any rest here. And we have a house full of family members to look after her...right? GoEm were so happy to hear all this. They said lets go now we will come back for our stuff. Saying this all three left to go back home. Koki had informed Hetal of the changes before leaving so Hetal was waiting with a aarti thalli when they came. After all was said and done, GoEm went to their room and Ahem ordered Gopi to lie down and rest. Everyone came and visited them thru out the day and then let them rest at night. Ahem looked at Gopi and saw a her smile like that for the first time. A smile that made her eyes sparkle and her cheeks rosy. Ahem thought of being naughty and said you know now that here we are going to have a challange on our hands. When Gopi looked at him confused, Ahem leaned in closer and said "How are we to make love all night when we are constantly having visitors. I think I need to get a stronger lock for the doors and only one key that I will keep. Gopi blushed and hugged Ahem and said thank you Ahemji for making my life competely filled with love of a family. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you for a husband and I love you very much...To that Ahem said I love you too...but you still haven't answered how to handle our visitor problem. Gopi patted his cheek and hugged him again and felt happy to be back to her family and she would do everything to make sure Maji would never feel neglected ever again. And that they would always stay with the family happily ever after...
