Hi everyone,
I have more of a general question related to SNS and marriage. I hope it is ok here!
Aham and Jigar were in their mid-20s when they got married, and Gopi, Rashi, and Kinjal seemed to be in their early 20s when they got married. I'm not sure about Dhawal (haven't watched all the SNS episodes) but I would guess that he was also mid-20s.
So, those of you who are married or have siblings, friends etc who are married - how old were you/they at the time? You don't have to reveal the exact age if you don't want to - early/mid/late 20s/whenever is fine. I'm interested to see if there is a general trend for males and females with you guys like there is in SNS (earlier age for females and husbands being a few years older than their wives). Also, if you don't mind putting this on the forum, I would be interested to know how many of your/your friends marriages were arranged ones.
Also, Aham, Jigar and Dhawal (I assume) had finished college before they got married but it looks like Rashi and Kinjal stopped studying at college when they got married. (Please correct me if that is wrong.) Did you or anyone you know do that as well, and does that also seem to be a thing with mostly females like in SNS?
I guess this kind of thing, in SNS anyway, seems to apply to the more conservative/traditional people like the Modis, who expect the ladies to take care of the home and not work out of the house.
Very interested to see what you guys have to say. I hope this is not inappropriate! 😊
Thanks!
PS. You don't have to say if you are writing about yourself of other people. For example, you could just write something like 'female 20 married male 26, arranged'. (That was meant to be like Goham 😊)

Nice post, I have no issues sharing. I had a love marriage, and was inter-caste, diff religions and also diff nationalites. So as you can imagine, it took us a long time to convince our parents. So by the time we finally got married, I was 25 and he 28.

But all of my friends who had arranged marriages the girls were mostly 22-24 max and boys 26-28.

Why exactly are you asking this?

in india arranged marriages are normal. my cousin was 19 and she was married of to 30 yr person. we tried to explain to her parents to stop, but the reason they gave was, he is a goverment employee. today after lots of issues and harassment with 2 yrs she has come back to her mothers place.
the moment a girl reaches 20 parents start to search for a groom.

what is the difference between arranged marriage and love marriage?
love marriage is suicide were you knowingly jump into the well.
arranged marriage is murder were people push you into the well.

I finished Uni then had an arranged marriage (aged 23). My husband is 3 years older. But most of my friends had love marriages also aged 22-23 years. Since this time the trend seems to be that both males and females are getting married in their late twenties and thirties especially if the marriage is arranged. Those getting married early aged 22ish i.e. straight out of Uni are those who are having love marriages and have met someone whilst studying.
This is my experience in the UK.
