Apara Mehta

Apara Mehta is back in Saat Phere after a gap of over one year. This time not only with an interesting track, but also in a new avatar. She will play a blind woman - a simple and positive character. Apara had done a cameo in the show earlier where she played an out-and-out negative character as Kuki Kaki.

Very excited about the twist in the story and her return to the show, Apara says, "I have an interesting role in the show. It's something I have never done before on television or in theatre before. I am excited about playing a blind woman and it is going to be a huge challenge for me. As an actor, I have always looked forward to variety and exciting roles. I will have a dramatic entry and my character will add twist to the track. I am not going to have a glamorous image in the show. Rather, it's going to be a simple sari, and minimal make-up and jewellery."

So is Apara watching films like Black or reading up books to be able to play her character well? What kind of home-work is she doing? "I'm currently learning to play blind. My daughter's best friend was a blind girl so I have observed her a lot. I'm trying to get the nuances into my acting. In television a character is as good as the writer's script. A well-written track works well and the actors can better it with their acting skills."

Apara has already started shooting for the show. Says Rashmi Sharma, creative head of the show, "Apara's entry in the show will bring about major twists in the track." For now Apara has her hands full with Virrudh, Solhah Singarr, Karam Apna Apna and her first love - Gujarati theatre.
