Z ee TV will soon present a new next weekday drama series. Produced by Miditech, Parivar – Kartavya Ki Pariksha will replace Jay and Kinnari Mehta's Siindoor. Directed by Rajesh Babbar, it will be aired in the 7 30 pm time slot. Mehta was asked by the channel to wind up Siindoor since it was a financially unvi- able project in that time slot. Set against a Maharashtrian backdrop, Parivar – Kartavya Ki Pariksha introduces Deepti Devi as its lead actress. The rest of the cast is new, except for Kapil Soni (Thodi Khushi Thode Gham) and Alka Shlesha. The storyline is about a girl, Radha, who comes from Pune. All her friends are married but she puts aside her personal desires to fulfill her family's demands. A nurse by profession, she works very hard to support her mother, her brother Avinash, and her younger siblings, Anki- ta and Yash. But in return, she doesn't get any love and affec- tion from her family. There's a love story too. Rad- ha's childhood friend Mohit (Kapil Soni) wants to marry her. With age catching up, will Rad- ha ever get married? It seems to be inspired by the movie, Jeevan Dhara, which had Rekha as the lead. Ashvini Yardi, head of programming, Zee TV, says, "This series is a refreshing change in our prime time slot. It also reinforces Zee's pro- gramming strategy to offer thoughtful messages through our serials."
