Why is the main protogonist dark?

This story was started as a dark girl's plight in the society, discrimination at home and how she will fight all that to make a name for her. But like all other shows here too the female protogonist did was to get married to a rich guy and cooking, cleaning and trying to keep the family together and also in between take all the abuse and shed loads of tears. The story doesn't make an iota of difference whether the lead is dark or fair.

Hi Anjali, I pondered over the same issue earlier. But I remember reading a print interview of the SP producers that they had originally planned that Saloni's marriage proposal wld be rejected by people becoz of her color. After this she wld embark on her journey to become a singer with unflagging support from Neel.

But the twist is public loved Saloni and the serial became popular so the whole singer -struggle story was put in the back burner.😆

TRP's & public feedback drive the story line. Neel lost his part becoz Nahar😳 a guest character became popular! As Tara is not invoking public sympathy so the Urvashi drama will carry on. Kaveri turned good but public prefered her evil garb so she is back to her form!😆

And must say the writers are coming up with unpredictable ideas implemented in a novel way.👏
