its so amazing to see the differences between india and america
im not sure if it's still true, so maybe people who live in india can help me
does the color of your skin still mean that much in india?
i know that here in america everyone wants to be tan
my skin color is sorta tan, and everyone at school is always saying that they wish they had the same skin color as me. i know peoplw who go to tanning places to get a tan, and then i watch this show, so i don't know what to think anymore.
so does the color of your skin matter that much in india, because i know it doesn't matter here
if u guys are confused with what i was saying please tell me because i think im kinda confused also.
i don't really participate in this forum, but im trying to become more active
and i really like this show, its a little different from the others, and i love rajshree and sharad
luv raji

Well, the skin tone is different for americans (Caucasians) vs. Indians.

Most Caucasians have very pale skin and hence prefer tanned skin where they are still relatively light skinned, just not pale. People go to tanning salons to make their skin 'golden', which i guess looks better than having pale or reddish skin.

Indians on the other hand can be described as being either light skinned or dark skinned. As dark skinned, you have a skin color similar to that of African Americans. You wouldn't find Caucasians having a skin color of an African American, unless they are mixed blood.

Also, for Indians, pale skinned is looked at being better than dark skinned. Personally, I hate that kind of prejudice. It's so annoying!
