Kirti has no plans to start a family

Kirti Kelkar (TOI Photo)
Kirti Kelkar is so excited about participating in the reality show Saas Vs Bahu on SaharaOne that she's even hired a hall for the rehearsals.

"There are altogether 30 contestants and it's difficult for us to rehearse in one studio. Since I'm also shooting for another show Choti Bahu, I hired a hall so we could rehearse at odd hours," says an upbeat Kirti.

After Solhah Singaarr, Kirti was not seen much on TV. So where was she? "I was doing something or the other. I've always been busy but hopefully you'll see more of me on TV now. Also I want to work only for 15-20 days in a month. I don't like to work for 30 days at a stretch and if at all I do then, it should be something really tempting like playing a positive and a negative role together. Right now, my family and my husband Sharad is my priority," says Kirti who's again playing a negative character in Choti Bahu.

So when will we see her playing positive roles? "I must be a pretty good actress because in spite of having a pretty face, I'm always offered negative roles. But I enjoy playing negative characters because I find them very challenging and difficult. And the response that I get too is mind-blowing. Once when my husband and I were in Hong Kong, a fan came up to me and said, 'I feel like killing you'. We laughed so much about it, but you see that's how it is.

Thankfully the fan was not so serious about what he said," she jokes. And what about films? "No I'm not interested in films as I'm doing quite well on TV. But my husband is interested in films and I will live my dream through him," she says.
So any plans of starting a family? "Well, my husband says I'm a kid and how can a kid handle another kid," laughs Kirti.

Did she really say, "in spite of having a pretty face"? Does that mean only ugly girls get the negative roles? I know I'm being picky, but I've never seen someone call themselves pretty.

i think she called herself pretty. not that she isnt pretty but shes trying to say villains are supposed to look uglier than the main lead

I believe she meant that most directors/producers would tend to stereotype a pretty girl as being too nice to play an evil character believably, especially one who is reportedly as sweet as Kirti is in real life; so that she feels that she has to believe she does a fairly good job at showing that she can be nice in real life and still be believable playing a villain.
That's what I understood when I read it, anyway. Hope I made sense, and thanks so much for the article.

I know the audience gets involved in storylines (so do I!) but that's taking it a bit too far lol 😆 That is funny though.
Thanx for sharing.

she is really pretty. Maybe she meant that she had a very innocent face. Most villains hav a very sly look, lots of makeup etc
