I mean whenever a problem or any issue comes up...everyone wll be discussing on how to solve the problem and toasty will be like " its all bcoz of me", I , ME, Myself...it shows her to be self contered. I know its the makers who did that but really, its getting annoying after a point hearing her say that every single time...
I dont know why they have to show her like that, its not like she is the only one...
abt this track...I find ved and nitika to be hypoctites. what with one insulting the other ones parents time and again and keeping quiet when he had to speak up, the one who took innumerable insults and kept quiet with KIYA.
Nitika who cared a damn abt her parents and their wish, who kept quiet when her parents got insulted time and again by this very Ved, who ran away is now teaching ved abt family values and how he had to see nani maa and stuff..

I don't know if I agree with you...

I don't think Toasty is self-centered...she just has an overly protective nature about the family and she feels a heavy responsibility towards everything that happens in the family...because she was basically handed the entire house to take care of when she married Tej, and she is the one that has tried to fix all the problems, she has a heavy feeling of guilt and feels responsible whenever something goes wrong. She also has a need to fix whatever is wrong...and as Tej calls her Jhansi ki Rani, she really is because she is always ready to throw herself into the line of fire to save her family.

As for Ved's change in personality...people change a lot after they get married...they get a sense of responsibility and priorities also change. I've seen it happen with many of my uncles, who don't even seem like the same people they were before marriage. They repeatedly showed Ved watching Nitika being yelled at or Pashu being unfair to her, and naturally he would feel the need to protect her. Even when he spoke to Pashu, he spoke softly like he always would...it was the slap that he felt bad from becuase after marriage, being slapped in front of your wife is different from before marriage...a wife's sense of respect comes from her husband's respect and I think Ved was more upset more by this and the fact that he didn't see any regret from Pashu or any acknowledgement of knowing how Ved feels because Pashu kept hiding how upset he was over what happened.

I agree that Nitika's handling of her parents wasn't always the best in every situation. I support the eloping because I've seen that happen enough times in real life to know that in some situations it's the best solution when things get out of hand..they were forcefully trying to marry her off and there was no other way out of the situation as her parents weren't ready to listen...and then the fire settles after a while or everyone goes their own ways a little more peacefully. I think her lecturing was coming from her perspective that they need to stick together as a family and Nani ma didn't do anything to Ved for him to not go and say bye to her...his battle is just with Pashu so why should the whole family be punished?

For someone to be considered self-centered, that person would have to be solely concerned for his or her interest; that is not Toasty.

Toasty's problem is the opposite; she's more concerned for the welfare of others, namely her family, than herself.

Toasty is best described as self-sacrificing rather than self-centered.

Tina,
I agree with you but sadly you wont get many supporters now for this. People who would have criticised SBS characters with open mind have long said bye bye to this serial.
I would add only one point to it.. She is not only self centred in owning up responsibiliy.. while solving any problem.. Toasty always keeps it within herself and shares no details with anyone n the family (not even her husband).. looks like this time for a change she is trying to involve others but whatever happens.. the SBS revolves around proving how without Toasty the world would collapse..
Yes, like you I also know it is not Toasty or Aishwarya's fault.. it is the crap CV(s) who are boringly single track minded and keep serving the same old wine in old bottles!!

I think you are right...
Toasty is the lead role... That is why...Always she has to solve, everything..
Yes.. Ved never stood up for his Love, when his dad wanted him to marry KIA,,, and then when himself and his dad insulted Nitika's PArents.. Again he was quite... To him it was right..
Nitika, Run away from home and chose to marry VED. VED was ok with it eventhough HE knew it was against Nitika's parents wish...
There was no moral, values...for him at that time...
Even Nitika didnt give a crap about HEr own parents...
You are right.. NOW BOTH OF THESE 2 WANT TO SHOW THAT THEY MORAL, VALUES.. RESPECT..
Toasty is goood most of the time.. The CVs should really give Toaty a break for some time.. I really want to see MAlti big bahu, Pashu, Dadajii VED do some good things tooo...
BUT IT IS NOT VED's FAULT IN A WAY.. PASHU KICKED HIM OUT OF HOME.. SO HE HAD NO CHOICE...
TOASTY IS ALSO SELFISH.. SHE NEVER SHARES ANYTHING TO ANYONE IN CHATUR FAMILY... SHE ALWAYS WANTS TO GET ATTENTION...
EVEN MALTI SHARES WITH HER BUT, SHE NEVER DOES...
THAT IS VERY SELFISH..

VEd doesnt come home to see naani maa
Naani maa's character dying..
KIA's character Came...Shouldnt have. and then they killed so quickly..

I do not agree that Toasty is self centered. if anything, she is delusional in her ways to set a wrong, right. She feels since she has changed so many things in the house, if anything goes wrong, even a chooha moves from one corner to another and lest Chedi/Pashu find out, all hell will break loose on her. Jokes aside, she has been through a lot trying to make her place in the house, and she feels responsible for bringing Malti back, brining in Nitika and changing everyones perspective. I dont think thats self centered, I do think, she thinks, she alone can solve it all, and often does not take Tej into her confidence, which I find is her biggest negative point. He is your husband, and if anyone, he should be the one to know you, your mind and your motives inside out, unless you are a manipulative B, which Toasty isnt to one bit. The other thing I do not like about her, she lies to do the right thing to one person, only to fess up about it in the end and not only screw herself over but also make the person for whom she did, a whole lot guilt ridden. That is wrong. But i do get annoyed with her constant "its my mistake" banter. I wish she would stop doing that.

She is not self centered as she cares about her family a lot. But she has the I will solve it myself attitude. She is a self solver who thinks that she should and can do everything without anyone's help as if she is the only one there to fix all the problems.

If Toasty is self-centered then the definition of her "self" would mean 'Tej's family' because all she cares about is them being happy.

Ved's character has been very consistent as principled, meek, sacrificing yet very caring family member. And Nitika's character has just blossomed beautifully over a period of time. She has very well adapted herself to changing circumstances.
