Hi fellow IF friends,

I am planning to go for the SRGMP USA auditions. Can you please suggest some good songs that I can prepare? I am not sure if I need to prepare, mainly new ones or mix of old, new, semi-classical, etc.

I was thinking of:
Rasm-e-Ulfat
Kabhi Neem Neem,
Ye hai Reshmi,

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also if anyone has gone to the auditions before, please share your experiences. This may be useful for other participants too!!

Thanks.

I suggest that you sing according to your capabilities. If you are not trained in classical singing..i would recommend against singing any classical songs at the audition. I would recommend that you sing any recent song that has been popular and suits your voice. So if you are not good at fast item numbers like mauja hi mauja then don't sing it. I think a lot of people try to sing difficult songs but only do a half decent job rather than singing a moderately difficult song and excelling. So choose a song that will showcase your abilities.

for classical songs i would suggest...
Jhanak Jhanak tori baje payelia- Raga-Darvari Kanada
Laaga chunri me daag- Raga-Bhairavi
Chham Chham Baaje Re Paayaliya

for others im sure you know songs that are popular today but a few examples...

For slow songs...
Main agar kahoon
Ankho Mein Teri

Fast Songs...
Maujha hi Maujha
Nagara

Thank you all for your suggestions. BTW jaskaran48ji, I am a girl so would like to sing female songs.

I am not trained in classical, but have been giving performances with a band or karaoke for the last 4-5 years.

Mini, I am thinking of going to Dallas or Chicago for auditions. Go to zeetvusa.com and you'll get the info there.
