Hello Friends,
In continuation of our "Recap with Golden Retros" this week we bring you yet another special episode. The Republic Day is just round the corner, so this week we will bring you the…….
Republic Day celebrated on 26th January, is one of the most important days in Indian history as it was on this day in 1950 that the Constitution of India came into force and India became a sovereign republic and democratic nation.
On this day apart from paying tribute to the national heroes of the past and present, a grand parade is held by the defence forces and then by different state representatives showcasing their respective cultural richness and bringing the whole country together even in her essential diversity.
The richness of Indian music also lies in its diversity. North or south, east or west, each region has its distinct and very typical style - be it in a folk song, a traditional festival song, or even in the film songs. If the North has given us musical forms like Bhangra, Gidda, then the west has given us Lavani, Koli, Dandiya. If the east has given us gems in Baul/Rabindrasangeet or Bihu, then the south has given us Carnatic.
In Retro Caf this week, we will celebrate the spirit of Republic Day with songs and tunes of different states.
On wednesday then we shall all meet right here on this thread at the Retro time, and listen to our favorite show.....
