I don't know if you guys have noticed or may be it's my own perception from what I had seen. I don't wish to talk about how Smita did in that song, some parts she did good some parts not so good.

But immidiately after she finished I saw Sureshji giving claps with his hands up, which usually one does when he/she likes something to stand out from the rest. Then Sonu tilted back(as Karishma was in the middle)to watch Sureshji clapping like that and smiled to himself. Then Sonu passed his comments to Smita when his time came, after that of course Sureshji spoke in the same line as Sonu. Though no big deal, I found it interesing.

as i told in earlier thread, suresh cannot judge. he may be a good singer and a music teacher but as far as judgement is concerned he has no idea what he is doing there.
All he knows is
when sonu says good he says god bless you

when sonu says bad, he says mazza nahi aaya

when he has to put his comment first he says sidha mark deta hu, C, C+, B B+......

Yes, I think after Sonu said a couple of times that our opinions are not maching and there is a deewar between them, Sureshji has become more cautious. Also if you had noticed when Sonu said that Sureshji panicked and from then on he is being very careful and passing judgement along Sonu's lines. I think he is in the show because of Sonu's choice so I feel that he is like more like indebted to him kind of thing. I might be wrong but it is strictly my opinion. I have a feeling he liked Smitha's song, the way she modulated her voice was stupendous. wonder why sonu did not like it, and he loved Vaishali's simple song.😕

Sureshji has been associated with SRGM from its early days. Infact he came as a judge when Sonu was a host of the show. Sureshji is held in high esteem in the musical world and in SRGMP show also. He may not sugar coat what he says, he may not at time connnect with the participants also, but he has been a music teacher from the time one can remember and his judgement is bang on.He does not need to follow Sonu blindly..In fact Sonu himself had acknowledged that he has learnt a lot from Sonu.

So your logic of Sonu doing a favor to Sureshji does not hold good.

As far as Smita's performance goes, she was a note higher and went shrill at high notes and her falsetto was so apparant. It did not take a Sonu or Sureshji to see/hear that. Even novices could see that. Its unfortunate but that is the truth. This week just did not belong to Smita and she was the weakest.

I like Smita's singing too but as a neutral audience , if I can see her strenths, then I can see her weakness too. If she can correct it and rise above the falsetto, she will do really well.

you know, maybe that is just a part of zee's editing. (trust me, they do this alot) maybe they took a scene when he had clapped for someone else's song and showed it after smita's performance. and sureshji is much more senior to sonuji and knows more about music then him. if you noticed, his comments after smita's performance were much more detailed. sonuji just imitated her. sureshji actually talked about falsetto and scale etc. he wouldnt say any of that if he didnt feel so.

I completely agree to what you have said about Sureshji. I did not mean to demean him in anyway. Having said that I also stick my opinion that Sonu is a combination of popularity and knowledge which is very rare. He connects equally with young and old and has earned a special place in bollywood. I feel Sureshji also acknowledges all these and definitely feels pressurized in his judgements when he is going against Sonu. I still feel when they can surprass so many things with other contestants like Vaishali, there is no point being so critical on Smitha's performance. I felt like Smitha was trying to imitate Sunidhi and Sunidhi also used falsetto voice in that song because that brings style to the song.

Falsetto and 1/2 note is no new thing for Sureshji, when it comes to Smita's singing. Surely he is right about it, she did it many times. But I don't think that part was edited that day. What caught my eyes was Sonu moved back to watch him clapping like that, smiled and then he dropped the bomb. The way he spoke I don't think Sureshji , even if he liked a bit , had no other choice but follow the same line.

If you have noticed, many times I have seen if Sureshji gives his opinion first then there is a possibility of difference in judgements between the two. But when Sonu speaks first there is hardly much difference.

Also I don't agree with the fact that Sureshji can't judge, but here I think Sonu's words are more dominant, he is more influencing.

but how can sonu nigam influence suresh wadekar? he is much younger than him and not as knowledgable in music. i'm pretty sure that you're interpreting something you have seen wrongly. if sureshji really just wanted to follow sonuji then he would have given some vague comment like "mazaa nahi aaya" or "achha nahi laga". knowing how suresh wadekar has very sharp ears, i doubt that he would actually like that weak performance.
