He has such a pleasing personality, lovely expressions, a complete charmer 😛, perfect personality, good physique, very well spoken all the ingredients of an actor and the icing on the cake a beautiful voice. What do you guys think went wrong with his acting career? May be he is over-qualified. 😉. Share your thoughts...

Dear kamala_u ji,
Charm, personality, physique aur beautiful voice hone se koi actor nahi banta. Acting naam ki jo cheez hoti hai woh aana chahiye.

I agree that Sonu has all the above mentioned qualities, but i'm doubtful about the acting part. I havnt seen those films where he had the lead role (i cudnt gather enough courage 😆 )but i have seen that atrocious movie 'jaani dushman'in which he did a small role. I'm sorry to say that his performance was pathetic in it.(In fact he didnt have much to do in that movie other than crying and screaming while chased by the villain 😆He was mostly seen as unconcious and being carried by one of the heros 😆 😆 )

I'm sure his other movies must be equally pathetic as all of them were flops. I dont think it was only Sonu's fault. The combined effort of all those writers and directors has produced those disasters. But i dont know how far Sonu can act even if it is a Yash Chopra movie.

His real gift is undoubtedly his divine voice and his marvellous singing. He's a charming person and is a good performer.I would like him to concetrate on his genuine skills.I wouldnt want him to spoil his good image by making unnecessary acting attempts 😊

Thanks for your views SAnode Ji, I agree "Jaani Dushman" was a pathetic movie, I did not watch his second movie with juhi babbar, but the 3rd one "Love in Nepal" was a good one. I don't mean it is a good movie but it was good acting by Sonu. And all the top heroes today aren't excellent actors either barring a very few. If you can try to watch few snippets atleast of "Love in Nepal" and let me know what you think. I totally agree that he has a divine voice par excellence but somehow it feels like he still misses out on being an actor in his interviews. May be he should not given up so easily.

Sonu partially blames the debacle of his movies on marketing also. Read this

I've seen Jaani Dushman and Kaash Aap Hamare Hote, and I would have to say that his acting was pretty atrocious. He also somehow didn't have the right screen presence for films. I don't know how to describe it. Anyway, I think he's made the right decision by sticking to singing.

I agree with u totally on this.I have not seen any of Sonu's movies and cannot comment on his acting/screen presence. But many of today's so called stars/actors can hardly act....Barring a few like Amir khan or others like SRK(he at least has screen presence),we have a whole bunch of ppl who have forayed into movies with zero acting skills and no screen presence. How then,r they successful....If ppl like HR,Ranbir kapoor ,Emraan Hasmi,Bobby deol etc can become heroes then well,Sonu is as good/bad.

I agree that the marketing is very important ..the songs shld be of mediocre tune & made popular by continuous blasting on channels .Movies & songs grow on ppl...Also presntation of the hero is very important..(.As in HR's case)...and lastly of course, nobody can replace a good script and a big banner. With these ingredients and multiple chances (as in the case of Abhishek,Bobby deol,Ajay Devgun etc),anyone can become a hero

Having said that I hope Sonu sticks to singing coz we can have a 100 actors, but we have very few(probably none ) singers like Sonu Nigam. His foray into movies will be an irreplaceable loss to music.

Can't agree with you more on the last sentence, it is impossible to find another Sonu. But I think that will be one thing that is going to bother him for rest of his life.

Also I don't understand what screen presence HR has. He does not even look at the camera while giving interviews 😆. No connection with the audience at all and if he passes any vibes at all they are all negative. 😕 God knows how he became an actor and that too his first movie being a super hit. How can "Maa Ki Ashirwad" and "Destiny" only favor him and not anyone else. 😕. God is very unfair and biased. 😳

I was just about to write the exact same stuff; before I came across ur post...perfect answer...a standing ovation from me👏
I watched kaash ap hamare hote, and Sonu's acting was really good; but yet again acting is not everything..good script, banner, production house, and all that jazz. If sanjay bhansali's saawariya can get overshadowed cuz of SRK's movie, then any production house would have failed too..
Like the same way, Srk can't sing, or Amitabh can not get the best singer's awards, sonu probably can't be the greatest actor either....But he is about to work on another movie "ankhon ankhon main" in which he plays teh role of a blind singer..I m xited abt. that..
HR is an exception; he sucks at both singing and acting..😆

I agree that Himesh's screen presence can hardly be called appealing. I haven't seen AKS, but from what I heard it was horrible film. So I'm guessing that people only went to see it because they were curious. His music and singing (God knows why the singing) are popular and he has a lot of fans, so it's understandable. I doubt that he'll be able to repeat that success.
