I think SLB is right!!! The media lubs to suck upto SRK....and trash other movies badly....especially Taran adarsh....last year he said don was bad and now he changed his side to SRK and gave saawariya a TERRIBLE review and gave OSO a biased review....these kinda ppl make me sick....
Saawariya had 2 debutants.....OSO had king khan and 31 stars in a song.....but ppl watched saawariya anyways....and the critics are trying to make ppl to avoid saawariya.....shame on them....instead of encouraging talent they r trying to suck upto srk 🤢

FARAH AND SANJAY FIGHT FOR SUPREMACY

By Eye TV India Bureau

In the News

The coming Friday (November 9th) will witness a fight between the two giants of Bollywood. They will be competing with each other by releasing their much hyped movies. While Farah Khan will present her Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Om Shanti Om' at the box office, Sanjay Bhansali, known for his variety, will bring in 'Saawariya' though with two new faces in the lead roles. Incidentally, the occasion is too auspicious as this time Friday falls on the festival of Deepawali. Though both were aware of the fierce competition between them, they are hell bent to hit the box office. Earlier, both Farah and Bhansali had indulged in a battle of words.

Both the filmmakers are busy in promoting their movies now, and are not necessarily interested in talking about the other. At the very mention of Farah, Bhansali simply folds his both hands and takes his leave, and when we quiz Farah about Bhansali, she's quick to say that it's only 'Om Shanti Om' that she's promoting and nothing else. So, the war has been continuing 'behind the scenes'. This will end on Friday (Nov 9th) when both will release their movies before the final verdict of the viewers. Interestingly, theater halls exhibiting both the movies have their houses full in advance. Let's keep our fingers crossed until Friday in the hope that both would fare equally well.

How Farah and Sanjay rediscovered friendship

After a long cold war, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Farah Khan rediscovered their friendship last year on the sets of Sony's dance show 'Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa'.

After a long cold war, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Farah Khan rediscovered their friendship last year on the sets of Sony's dance show 'Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa'.

Both of them featured on the programme as judges along with actress Shilpa Shetty.

'Farah and I go back a long way. She and I started off together in '1942 - A Love Story'. We had the privilege of visually creating R.D. Burman's last melodies. That will always remain among the best work we've done in the last 14 years. Since then we've always got along like a house on fire. We did have a long cold war between us. But now I think we're even more comfortable with each other,' Bhansali told IANS.

Remembering her stint on the dance show, Farah says that one of the best things about 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' was that she got to spend time with Bhansali.

'I jokingly told Sony Entertainment Television they'd have to re-do my contract. The whole day I was only looking after Sanjay. When we meet up we keep going back to our good old days when we were layabouts running around for Vinod Chopra's production house, working away in Dalhousie 14-15 years ago.

'We've gone back to the good old days. And now I find him quite mellow, emotional and changed. In between, he had become quite an angry young man. Now he's just an emotional old man... For me he's just good old Sanjay.'

Both were choreographic assistants to Chopra during '1942 - A Love Story'. While Farah was to be billed as the choreographer, Bhansali was credited as the director of songs.

Somewhere, the line dividing the two fledgling technicians' job got blurred. And Bhansali felt he was being sidelined in all the publicity and marketing. This created a rift between the two friends.

The fact that mutual 'friends' insisted on adding fuel to fire increased the problems.

Saawariya was a very well acted love saga..... and It was a good art movie.... however not commercially viable....

SLB did the biggest mistake by going overboard with Advertising expenses.... eventhough, I think cost of making film was in budget as there was only one set and most movie is around the bridge 😊

I dont know why SLB is saying I have created a superstar in ranbir kapoor.....

As far as I saw in the film.... Ranbir gives an impression of Hrithik from the way he talks, dances, walks, gives expressions.... it would not be an exaggeration to call him a copycat of Hrithik (though it can be natural).....

Sonam was far far better than Ranbir as far as expressions and acting goes and She will reach milestones for sure.... (I see her in league of madhuri and kajol) 😃

I personally thought Ranbir was brilliant.. I thought he walked like Raj Kapoor, talked like Rishi Kapoor and emoted like Neetu Kapoor... The character that he played expressed all the shades so well...

Oh I thought Sonam had far more complex shades in her character, and she came out winning emoting them... Her eyes are as expressive as Ranbir's if not more... and the undertones of her complex character have come out very very well...

Kudos to both the newcomers for such a refreshing debut...👏👏👏

I think Saawariya is lot lot more than that.. its like an open book poetry which is completely open to interpretations... I am glad that SLB kept so much scope in the movie for us viewers to interpret it and explore the core of the movie with our own interpretations...

I think SLB did not make any mistakes personally... The sets were lavish and I could identify atleast 5 different grand sets that he had to put up... They are a revelation in themselves... I think what really went against the movie was that people went to see the movie with a pre-conceived mindset of the high melodrama that SLB has offered them before... I also thought that there was this completely unfair comparison between 2 complete different genres of movies that were perhaps even targeting different target audience.. The uncanny uniformity of the film being run down by 'critics' does tend to give an indication of some foul play as well...

Anyways, the movie had recovered its cost in the very first weekend of its release.. I just wished that people were more open to accept experimental cinema rather than run of the mill films, that would actually lead to us viewers enjoying different kinds of movies...

I have my own interpretation of the grand movie and I personally think that SLB has surpassed his earlier best Khamoshi with this one.. Kudos to Bhansali for giving us Saawariya...

His launch film Saawariya may not have rocked the box office, but the critics loved him (so did the girls). He has what it takes to be a star - looks, lineage and going by reviews, even talent. He's already signed a YashRaj film co-starring Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, Miniisha Lamba and Deepika Padukone. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh's son Ranbir seems all set for a long innings in Bollywood
