I am not sure if this has already been discussed here.

We now know from the spoilers that the overseas votes played a major role in the final results. A large chunk of those should have come through online voting.

A cursory look at the site will tell you that it has a big hole. 4 lines of code and you can send votes non-stop - day and night. Even the restriction of 1 vote per id wouldn't stop this unless they verify the validity of email ids. They don't validate the ids, otherwise we would have been getting confirmation mails.

I think they should either put in place a better system with IP validations and all or they should totally scrap the online voting.

I don't understand your point. If you are talking about multiple online voting, then with SMS voting, you can vote for your favorite contestant as many times as you want. There is no such restriction even with SMS voting....

Very true, Online voting has a big hole. You could have voted hundred times online..but now with restriction of one vote per e mail, people have to make multiple id's to vote multiple times. So it would be hard to vote hundred's of times.

You have to pay multiple times to vote multiple times through sms's unlike voting multiple times through internet which happens to be free.

One vote per ID is okay - only if they had been validating the ids. Apparently, they are not. So you can just come up with fake ids like abc123@abc.net and vote as many times as you want. Now imagine that you don't have to click buttons or type in the fields but a computer program does it for you. It can do it faster. You let it run for the whole night and by the morning, it would have sent nearly 30,000 votes for you. You start 4 instances of the program and in a night you can send more than 100,000 votes. Ask a couple of friends to do the same and you can make your favourite the winner in no time.

Online voting is a joke. I hope they are not counting these votes.
