Smile, Darbar!

Salman Khan, Rishi Kapoor take Ismail Darbar's case for having lost out on Saawariya. Darbar laughs along with them

Having the last laugh? Salman Khan and Rishi Kapoor at the Saawariya music launch

Salman Khan was at his wittiest best at Saawariya's music launch recently. And so was Rishi Kapoor. At the receiving end of their jokes was music composer Ismail Darbar.

Our source reveals, "Khan made fun of Ismail Darbar saying, 'Jab se Ismail Darbar ne Saawariya ka music suna hai tab se unki hasi ud gayi hai!' (Ever since he has heard the music of Saawariya, he has stopped laughing.) Khan's remark on Darbar raised a lot of eyebrows."

Ismail Darbar, however, just laughs it off, saying, "I have heard that one! Salman Khan is moody and says whatever comes to his mind. I am sure he did not mean it in a negative sense. Why only Salman, even Rishi Kapoor pulled my leg the other day when I happened to meet him. I have lost a lot of weight because I have started going to the gym. But Rishi Kapoor said, "It looks like Saawariya's good music has pulled you down completely. Of course, I am spirited enough to take all these jokes in good humour!"

Darbar adds, "Honestly I feel that Monty, who has scored the music of Saawariya has done an excellent job. I have heard the songs of the film and was completely moved by them. Sanjay has even shot them very well. Like all Bhansali films, the music of Saawariya too will catch up in a big way."

Does he regret not composing music for Saawariya? He says, "Sanjay and I are like the cartoon characters Tom and Jerry. We keep fighting over little things and yet continue to be good friends. Initially, I was to score the music of Saawariya too. But Sanjay wondered if I would be able to give my full attention to it. During the making of Devdas, I was bogged down by personal problems and could not give my full attention to the film. However, Sanjay and I have decided to come together for his next film, after Saawariya."
