Rakshabandhan is one of the most important festival in India. It celebrates the sanctity of the pious relationship that exists between brothers and sisters. The festival of Rakhi is seen as one that helps to strengthen the the bond of love and trust between brothers and sisters and rejuvenate family ties.
On the day of Rakhi sisters adorn the wrist of their brothers with a frail thread of Rakhi. This Rakhi thread is symbolic of sister's unflagging love and wholehearted trust on her dear most brother. A sister prays for her brother's long life and well being from the Almighty. Touched with sister's love, brother pledge to protect his sweet sister always and stand by her side in case of any adversity or hardships in life. Brothers even pledge to sacrifice their life to protect honor and life of their sister who lovingly tie Rakhi on his wrist. Such is the devotion for Rakhi of brothers and sisters in India!
Bollywood has some very heart touching songs on this lovely occasion. The songs for Rakhi are mostly from old movies yet they retain their charm even in present times due to their amazing and soulful lyrics.
