With a Lower Court order making it clear that after Sanjay Dutt, it will be Salman Khan's turn to go to jail, like most individuals close to the actor, the contestants and celebrity judges of Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa are also upset.
The episode that featured Salman on the show has gone down as one of the most popular of the season and drew high ratings. Not just the contestants and judges, the viewers were equally charmed with Khan's behaviour on the show and his interaction with the young participants.
Composer-singer Shekhar said that the decision has left him speechless. "I don't know what to say. On Sa Re Ga Ma… Salman was a very nice guy. He interacted with everyone. And personally I feel that he is a very good human being. It's completely shocking!" said Shekhar.
Khan was a celebrity judge on the musical show on July 16 and his interaction with the contestants has stayed with them. Aneek Dhar, a contestant who faced Sallu's humourous side, when he asked him to sing his song bare-chested like Salman did in the original song said that the decision was shocking. "What?! Oh God I can't believe this that he will be in jail. If possible give my message to Salmanbhai that I'm missing him. We all love him and whole of Sa Re Ga....team loves him and is with him."
Ismail Darbar, another judge on the show, and the music composer of one of Khan's biggest movies – Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam- feels often these sentences seem a price for being a superstar. "I think it's now a crime to become a superstar! Why does only a superstar be guilty in the eyes of the law? Even a common man commits a crime but I don't seem them getting such a harsh sentence. Shouldn't the law be equal for everyone?"
"Yesterday we saw that Sanjay Dutt is back and now Salman Khan is in trouble… what's happening? Both are good people and are known for the time they spend on the problems of the common man. The amount they do for charity and then this…," adds a displeased Darbar.
Amanat Ali, a contestant from Pakistan, says that he will be praying for the man who came as a celebrity on the show but went back as a friend. "I'm completely in shock. If he has not done anything then Allah tala unki madat karenge," says Amanat, "When he had come on our show everyone liked it so much that even from foreign countries we got good response. He spoke to all of us and was so friendly and nice. He is a very genuine person."
Junaid Sheikh echoed similar sentiments. "I can't believe that Salmanbhai will go to jail. In the whole of Bollywood he is my favourite. I will pray to Allah to forgive him and that he should be set free as soon as possible!"
