😆 nice name Afreen😊
yeah, obviously it's a qawali, Nusrat Fateih Ali Khan is a qawali singer😉
and beside that if it were not a qwali do you think those biased mentors would spare Mussarat😆

Yes, thank you for that. I am a lifeless tone-deaf person.
😆
Is it a qawwali? I know this song was picturised on Lisa Ray, and Javed Akhtar had written the lyrics. I have heard it a couple of times since Karunya sang it on Indian Idol last year. Somehow I never knew it was a qawwali. Is it?
Afreen is a quawali, from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's album w/ Javed Akhtar, titled "Sangam". It is a superb album and I highly recommend it to everyone. Because of time limits most likely, Mussarat sang only 1 antara - the rest of the antara's are equally romantic!
Mussarat sang it almost as good as NFAK himself, infact slightly better in the high notes and slightly worse (little besura) in the low notes than the master himself.
A couple of people in above posts made comments like, "of course its a quawali, NFAK is a quawali singer". I'd like to correct them - he's basically a sufi singer, quawali is a particular form of sufi singing. All sufi songs aren't necessarily quawali's.
It's like saying anything sung by Jagjit Singh is a ghazal - which is obviously not true. He's best known for his ghazals and has also sung original bhajans.
