O.K. so, the performances this W/E. All very good and even if I may say so myself, Mauli was O.K. too, didn't mind hearing her (while looking away) only when she hit the high notes, I had to look, because it turned into another person singing, so I thought another contestant was taking the stage 😃 highly exaggerated, sorry, there I go again.
I loved the ambience as ID rightly pointed out.
Now for the Parformance (Bappida ishtyle).
Musarrat: was so good and flawless. I like to hear NFAK, but for me he's a bit hoarse, but wow man, Musarrat was like ghee in sheera, makhmal. 10/10
Amanat: was clearly enjoying himself, playing to the gallery, superb performance. Loved the way he playfully threw the rose, then innocently said "it fell down". 10/10
Raja : another beautiful performance. This guy just raises the bar everytime he sings. No words to describe. 10/10
Aneek : His voice so suited this song, it felt like he was singing for the film. High notes, low notes, mindblowing. 10/10
Sumedha : What a divine voice!! she sings so effortlessly, it seemed like she was lip syncing the song. No crunching faces, just a serene look of concentration. Another beautiful performance, such a sheer joy to watch and listen. 10/10
Poonam : She is a treasure for India. Such powerful vocals, one tone, difficult songs choice. Fantabulous. 10/10
Junaid : Such a different voice. So much of love in his voice, he is suited for romantic songs. One can feel the song thru his voice. But I think the judges, specially Shekhar and Himesh are bent on sending him home. I feel they know who should go, and trying to get low votes for Junaid in a such way that the fans of Himesh and Shekar will vote him off listening to them discuss Junaid's singing. He looked upset, which is natural, when such a disturbing ilzam (accusation) has been put on them, who wouldn't be? What if one of us goes on a goodwill mission to China and the next day, there are large hordings in their newspapers that we have actually come to spy, would we just sit in the hotel room and sip green tea and eat dim sim? Silly goons, naturally he was upset and his inner turmoil showed on his face. 9/10
Harpreet : I like his singing, which is much higher than some others there, but somehow I cannot connect with it. I did't go wow yet, that is not to say I will not, I may, but I haven't yet. 8.5/10
Mauli: 7/10 believe me this score is very high in my record book. Poor Shubha Mudgal must be taking training lessons in oooohhhh and aaaaahhhhing, oomph lessons in her classical songs... new twist.
Does anyone think somebody behind the camera is in love with Mauli? or is it that Mauli lands wherever the camera is focussed? Half of the time, during the Qawalli round the angle of the stadium was from her side and she was busy laughing and horsing around during other's performance. The reason I'm saying somebody is in love with Mauli is because she is there in each and every frame, be it for ID's daughter's B'day party (with her now "infamous" Maiya song 😕 ) or at the earlier event at the school, where again they showed her singing the M.... song (I can't even repeat the name of the song without cringing) to the students... but conveniently cutshort Sumedha's song... again I digress...
By the way, what was with the extra air time with Himesh and Gujarat lingo. It's been 2 months, and they are always meeting backstage. I think this is Mr. Bips training her, like he welcomes the already welcomed guest on the show, well into mid time. She is the only contestant who is bad in her singing which is anyway taking up air time, but (here my eyebrows are reaching my hairline) she takes extra air time to air her teeth!!, oops sorry mods, didn't mean to get that out, can't seem to find the delete button here.
Bappi L. seriously needs to take a crash course in music. His sense of who is good is so highly toxic, he's going to burst.
The reason I feel they want to give high points to Ms. high octave is because the final points tally will decide the elimination.
