I disagree with most of the people on this..Poonam is a very good singer no doubt..But she choses the songs very aptly, otherwise she is not versatile. She cannot sing a soft romantic song with her voice. So many times she exerts unnecessary pressure on her voice which is why it seems quite strained and not soothing. U must be remembering Vishal has pointed out the same thing twice and he was very right in saying so. Her 'mujhe rang de' started hurriedly and the musicians had to play the track faster (than required) to cope up with her song. But yes, certain songs go really well with her strong voice like Vande Mataram, Hungama Ho Gaya(all Asha Ji's fast numbers she can sing nicely) and some sad songs like 'Maula'. But I'm sure she can't do playback singing for heroines(especially romantic songs). May be she can go for those sad songs in background..

She also sang "Tose Naina Lage Re" which is a soft romantic number... not sad.. nor fast...

The track is not being played by the musicians in AP... The track is pre-made (sort of like karaoke) so she could not have gone faster unless that is how it was supposed to be.

Well, u all hv got me wrong ..I don't hv nythg against her singing..Her singing is perfect..Its her voice..It somehow lacks sweetness..

Firstly, neither Poonam nor ID made the video about Poonam. This is standard practice for SRGMP / Zee for ALL contestants - it helps their ratings and thus their business. One wishes they didn't do it, but they do.

Now about Poonam - she is a great singer - easily among the top 3-4 in this lot. If she got sympathy votes, that's OK, just like it was OK for Debojit to get the outrage votes in C2005. It's only bad when sub-standard singers like Mauli get the sympathy / hype / whatever votes that keep them in the contest for far longer than they deserve to be in.

I agree with lifeztuf.. her voice isnt sweet.. but she sings very well & her voice is powerful...

Dude If there is one person on the show who does not need sympathy votes that is Poona this girl can singgggggggggg!!!!! The thing I like about Poonam is that when actors like Fardeen Khan and Salman Khan come on the stage, she does not start directly singing to them or trying to impress them like other singer (Mauli). She is so into her singing she forgets that they are even on stage. I really like that Quality about Poonam.

It is not Poonam's fault that saregamapa wants to exploit the situation of its contestants for effect. They want a higher TRP and you want to blame the contestant. Poonam does have a sad story and I would like someone to win who deserves it that is Poonam.

What is the fault of Poonam in this, showing he life from where she has faced all the struggles in life. She is getting sympathy votes, I donot agree, she has got all the votes, what she deserves. I am simply amazed how she modulates her voice, which others do after so many years of riyaaz, I am sure, she did not have any formal training. If people can bring love, other emotions, bringing the celebrities onto the stage for dancing, hugging etc. only to make attention of the people, where is the fault of knowing Poonam's life, as Himesh said, people will get encouraged by her story, many will dare to come to attain everything with their hard work, dedication, and being simple. Poonam, you rock, my 100 votes for you, specially after the independence day performance.
