Hi Friends,
This week we are back with a new Retro theme and possibly a favourtite theme for all. Its a Tribute to none other the yodelling King of Bollywood Music Industry - Kishore Kumar.
4th August as we all know is the Birthday of a musical genious known to everyone as Kishore Kumar. His actual name was Abhaas Kumar Ganguly. Due to his extraordinary qualities in acting, music direction, writing lyrics and production-direction, apart from singing, Kishore has been the most popular star of the Indian cinema music, though there were legendary figures like Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh and others.
Marne ki duaaen kyon maangoo shot in 1948, sung in typical Kundan Lal Sehgal style and filmed on Dev Anand, became his first hit song and after that he never looked back. Kishore always sang by heart. He introduced yodelling to his audience in the movie Jhumroo. With the songs he had sung he was considered as a 'Mast' type singer, but RD Burman gave him a song Chingari in the movie Amar Prem and proved that Kishore could not only sing 'Masti Bhare' songs but he could make people cry with the same voice.
The best thing about Kishore's voice was that one could not feel the age in it. His songs are like a voice of 'Today' even now. That is Kishore Kumar. The King of Yodelling Door Ka Rahi has left for Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein, but with his contribution to the Bollywood Music, is in our hearts forever. So this week's Retro is being dedicated to this Great Maestro on his Birth Anniversary.
