People like Dilip Kumar and other artistes/singers who took part in the movie and were present at the relaunch..

The premiere of the colour version of Naya Daur will see Dilip Kumar and Vyjayantimala making a public appearance together after several decades. The actress has committed to attend the premiere to be held in the first week of August.


Sachindra Bali, son of Vyjayantimala, says, "She has confirmed that she will be attending the premiere of the colour version of the film in Mumbai in the first week of August. In fact, she missed the music launch of the film as she is still recuperating from a cataract
operation."


When asked about the number of years that have gone by since Dilip Kumar and Vyjayantimala made their last public appearance, Sachendra promptly checked with his mom and said," It has been quite a few decades that the two of them have made a public appearance or attended
a premiere together."


Sachindra, however, mentions that the two had come face-to-face during a book launch event. "Mom and Dilip Kumar were present at a book reading session some time ago in Mumbai, but it wasn't a public appearance." The event and the screen couple's presence went unnoticed
here in Mumbai.


Laxmi Reuben Gopali, daughter of film historian Bunny Rebuen recalls something her father mentioned about the equation the two actors shared during the stardom days. "Vyjayantimala's entry into Naya Daur was quite interesting. The original cast of the film hadMadhubala in the main lead. Apparently Attaullah Khan, father of Madhubala objected to the outdoor shoot of the film and asked producer BR Chopra to shoot the scenes in Mumbai.
Chopra was forced to replace her with Vyjayantimala. Chopra inserted a full-page advertisement in trade magazines. The ad showed in bold letters the name of lead actors as Dilip Kumar and Madhubala, but Madhubala's name was boldly scratched out and the name 'Vyjayantimala' was written above it," Laxmi informs.


Vyjayantimala continued to be Dilip Kumar's heroine in almost all his films, till Sangam. Laxmi, who has co-
authored a book on Dilip Kumar says, "The thespian didn't like Vyjayantimala signing a film with his arch-rival Raj Kapoor. The cold war between Vyjayantimala and Dilip Kumar began from that time. Later, Vyjayantimala quit films and joined politics and shifted to Delhi.
