Prepare for the new generation of musically inclined friendships. After Udit Narayan and Bappi Lahri, it's their sons, Aditya and Bappa, who have followed suit. The music director-singer duo have been the best of friends since childhood.
We caught up with Aditya at Cinemax inVersova, Mumbai where he was attending the premier of the movie Bombay to Goa with Bappa.
Aditya says, "We have come here with some college and school friends. Bappa and I are childhood friends because our families have been close. I'm also friends with Bappa's sister Ritu. The first time I ever sang a song on stage was at Bappi Lahri's concert."
But the childhood friends have grown up and their careers sometimes come in the way of them catching up with each other.
"Nowadays we aren't able to meet each other like earlier because I am busy shooting for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Bappa is making his directorial debut. But my friends and I are excited for him and can't wait to sit with him in his recording studio." says Aditya.
Bappa Da makes his debut as a music director in the film Alibaug which is being produced by Sanjay Gupta's production house White Feathers.
Will their friendship extend to being professional as well? Aditya likes the idea saying, "Why not? He is a music director and as he is my friend so I would do anything for him. But as of now I am not mature enough to work with him as a playback singer. I think it will take me at least 2 years to grow as a singer."
At the premiere Aditya and Bappa were seen fretting about whether they would actually get to enter the cinema. Aditya was there by 10 o' clock but with the huge crowd at the hall he was upset that he wouldn't get his tickets. He and his friends then sat on the steps of the ticket counter and called someone saying, 'Yaar yaha bahot girdi hai aur tickit bhi nahi miraha hai' I'm getting bored.'
Bappa Da was spotted entering the cinema with a female friend. He later convinced the disappointed girl to go home half an hour later as photographers were eager to get shots of the two together.
