Suman Kalyanpur sang her first song for a movie called Magnu in 1954. Later in 50s she sang for few more movies but it was only in early 60s, she made a name for herself. Some of her early hit songs that I remember are:

- garjat barsat sawan ayo re (duet with kamal barot, barsat ki raat (1960), roshan)
- na jane kahan tu the (duet with Manna dey, zindagi aur khwab (1961), dattaram)
- na tum hamen jano (first solo hit?, baat ek raat ki(1962), SDB)

In addition to above Suman Kalyanpur duet in Miss Bombay (1957) with Mohammad Rafi - Din ho ya raat, hum rahen tere saath, yeh hamari marzi was her first memorial duet that brought attention..

Another I remember from early 60s is from Meri Surat Teri Ankhe (1963) -- a melodious duet with Mukesh -- yeh kisane geet chheda..

I think Mahendra Kapoor's Neele Gagan Ke Tale was good.
Shammi Kapoor's Yahoo !! was famous also.

Aar Paar, Darwazaa and Mangu all are 1954 films. Many sources state the song she recorded for Mangu as her first. In Darwazaa she had a duet with Talat --ek dil do hai talab_gaar badi mushkil hai -- but I think this was recorded later. I do not think Suman sung any song in Aar Paar. All songs are credited to Rafi/Shamshaad/Geeta. The song --mohabbat kar ji bhar lo, aji isame dhoka hai... has some female chorus where she may have given her voice.

salil ji.

This is what i have found about aar paar song..

That she sang "muhabbat kar lo jii bhar lo..." from Aar Paar. But it was only in the film version of the song, not on the records that were released 😕... its sung by shamshad begam , geeta dutt and rafi sahib as we know..and I donot remember the movie credits..
