Yes Shady bhai thats the bitter truth.😊 It takes a good composer and a good singer to get a good song. both cannot work seperately. Its this combination that gives us the best immortal melodies.

Many may not agree with me but its a fact that melody, which was an essential element of Bollywood music, is missing in today's music.Private albums have a very short life spans. They are heard and forgotten. And these days bollywood music has become that kind of music. But if this very bollywood music if scored properly like in the old days i am sure can stay for a long time

Unfortunately it is a fact that today the soul of music is missing.I feel the concept of live recordings was very different. It certainly gave a different bent to the sounds and also the chemistry of the song. The recording done these days is very different.music is recorded in various parts like the singer may sing first after which the sounds are fitted in. Maybe that is why songs of that genre were so different and so good. also these days music directors tend to play it safe and make music which is popular.

One more thing... today's music reflects what the directors want. And with number of young directors entering the film world the music too reflects their choice and liking. the sounds of today's music is very Western and unfortunately or fortunately that is going to stay the same as that is what is popular among people.

didi i agree with you..i remember some time ago we had a debate in which we were arguing that a singer like asha or lata are good by themselves and donot require "any MD" ....but as we see here on SRGMP contest too how the mentors have shaped some of the contestents..😊..so yes it is impt. to have the good MD/mentor ...

I remember Himeshji saying in an interview "Dekho bhai , singer composition se
badi nnahi ho sakti, agar composition hi kharab hai to singer kuchh bhi kar le!!"

Everybody seems to agree with Himeshji in this point at least!!

thanks appaji 😃 ..always enjoy going down memory lane with these great artistes.

kishoreda addressed khemchandji as chacha, who did not live to see his song "aayega aayega"(which is sad)

did kishore start singing before that or did he just visit his brother Ashok kumars sets..

i think what is lacking is the monetary incentive to make the kind of music that lata is talking about, and to work hard at putting it together. why work on that music when you can make a fast buck with chalu music?

personally i'd have wanted to see both kinds of music thriving, but unfortunately growth in one has been at the expense of the other.
