What is more important in this show?:
1. All Rounder
or
2. Only one genre of songs?

Important thing in this show, to win, is to keep the audience entertained... so singing one type of song will prolly eventually get them bored...but singing all types of songs, they'll expect something different from you everytime, so they'll be entertained, and become your fan, so you get votes, and you win...

ok i want only 1genre..iam tired of people saying ohh we wnat a performer a all rounder etc etc..I would like one genre ..who is so good that I would liek to hear him/her again and again

All kinds of songs. It's important for a singer to try to be versatile, especially when they're just beginning. Once accepted by the industry and the audience, they can form their own niche and opt for one specific genre. That's my opinion 😛

I think one must be unique. I dont think one can find work if they are a copy cat singer. They should have a distinguishable voice.
However, they should be versatile in the sense that they should be able to sing fast or slow numbers.

About Mauli's situation. She and others should only sing songs that they can sing comfortably and suit their voice. Like Ashaji said, they should not sing in falsetto voices. Sing in your own voice and be open. If it's husky, let it be. Don't try to sing like a nightingale when you can't . YOu don't hear ILa Arun trying to sing like a Asha Bhosle.

I liked Himani for that reason. She made every song her own.

I want to support my choice with this example..and its about kishore kumar ji...
Throughout his career, Kishore Kumar was popular and coveted, but One genre that Kishore Kumar ji truly excelled at was comedy. He had a truly innate comic sense and a timing that resulted in the audiences going totally mad at his antics.whether they were songs, acting or anything..late talk about his movies..like padosen,half ticket, chalti ka naam gaadi..the way he sung the songs and acted on them was simply mind blowing..
I would rather have a singer who is outstanding in 1 genre then one who can sing all but not good in anything !!
its like "jack of all trades and master of none"

One genre songs because what good is it for contestants to sing a song (like Mauli) they don't feel comfortable singing and that could eliminate them?

I think bollywood has a shortage for versatile singers, coz sunidhi and asha are the only two that I can think of as a all rounder female singers, but look at Lata, alka, shreya who can only sing melodious songs.......they def. can't try any other genres.

I think it's hard to find versatile singers these days.........so, I will stick with Himesh's one genre policy....

how many times does someone have to sing a particular genre to prove they are good in that genre?

yes a singer should try to be versatile, but also show if he/she is good in one genre

This is the argument that everyone makes
but the current program format is geared such that you should only sing what you are strong in, i.e stick to your genre

the format and the concept they are putting forward dont match, but that is of no concern to the organizers as long as the show generates TRP's 😉
