With multiple talent hunt shows airing in the various channels, the opportunities for wannabe singers have opened up quite a bit, and more recently we have seen singers from the same family or distantly related trying out their capabilities in different shows...

Hemachandra and Karunya is possibly the best known story of very talented and successful cousins.... We also had Hemabindu participate along with Hemachandra in C2005... This year we have seen more from families in different shows..

Paresh (who was the heartthrob of C2005) had his sister Hrshida competing in II3 and got voted out in the Piano round yesterday after probably what was her best performance...

Sharib's brother Toshi starts his journey in VOI today with the Jaipur auditions where he has supposedly come up with a great starting performance...

Can you think of any other such cases? Do you think, these related guys/girls do get some jumpstart advantage in the auditions as they already have some previous success story in the family?

Previous success story definitely help people to notice you..but this doesn't last long..We don't hear about Rafi's son who got some initial publicity because of his father..Same way Kishore Kumar's younger son is no where in the picture after the initial publicity..

Yes I agree that ultimately you need talent and some amt of 'being at the right place at the right time' to survive...

But if you do get noticed in auditions out of tens and thousands there because of this - that may be a big advantage for these complete unknowns... Afterall, thousands of more talented people may have not even got a chance to be heard.

I would agree with Jaya completely. It cannot be that paresh's sister or sharib's brother got noticed because they are related. If they got selected then definitly they hav the talent within them. now what the future holds after this is something unknown to all. as Jaya said even after this selection and notice that they will get, they still will need the luck of "being at the right place at right time".

I think the family reference helps in getting the contestants a real hearing - something that most of the thousands who show up are not lucky enough to receive. Tell them that you are Sharib's brother or Paresh's sister, and they'll give you that extra attention during auditions - maybe even place you in front of the line.

Some of the shows, like ASVOI, obviously seem to have gone out and hand-picked a few contestants, or specially invited some individuals to come and audition for them - which is why we see old faces like Sharib's brother, Sanchari, and Abhas amongst them.

is there a problem with that?as long as they are not professional singers it is all right i guess(even though some people have had reservations about a few singers in the past..)..do you feel that toshi, sanchari, abhas, prashant, supriya, karishma or others were stopped from auditioning for II3 or challenge..or were they rejected?or not good enough to have been selected in svoi..

or could it really be that they feel comfortable with gajendra and his team?

i am still hoping to see sameer brother probably from lucknow? in future we may pawani's lil sis!!

Never said there's a problem with that. Wonder what gave you that impression, since there wasn't anything remotely negative in that post - was simply commenting on their approach. (Although doing that and then denying they did so may be considered a problem by some - a problem of honesty).

As for why the people you mentioned didn't get into the other shows - I have no idea. They may not have auditioned, they may have showed up to audition but not gotten the opportunity to perform among the thousands, they may have auditioned but weren't up to the mark on the day, or others may have been better on that particular day, or they may not have touched the particular judge's heart - lots of possible reasons.

Come to think of it - if they get a direct fast-track invitation to audition by Gajji, why would they spend time in the heat to audition for the other shows with thousands of other less fortunate people in front of mentors/judges who may or may not select them?

As for the reason that they are more comfy and cool with Gajji and his team, the idea would be funny if it weren't so ridiculous. 😆

sorry shady,if my post sounded rude..

it really is true that the topic of pre selected, hand picked candidates have been brought up once too often..posted on the other forum too...

as i see it,gajendra has given up the title and concept of the show he created and ran for a decade-must have been hard..the price for his freedom to explore new avenues..over these years he has a met 1000s of aspiring singers, that is his strength..i wish people would cut him some slack..i have a decade long musical experience to thank him for 😊

I am not sure if the singers do get a special invite to audition for the particular channel... I remember VOI showing an AV where Sanchari said that she was waiting since 5 AM in the morning waiting for the auditions.. so she may not have got any special invite...

As for why some singers appeared in one viz-a-viz the others, its also upto them, and without knowing the reasons we should not debate, I guess.. say for instance, it would be natural for Harshida to audition for SRGMP where Paresh is already a known face rather than Idol, and we know that Yogi was selected from London and I can say that Harshida is a better singer anyday than Yogi.. what really happened, we do not know...

Also as Ankita said, its perfectly fine for the singers to appear in another show even if they or their relatives appeared on the same or another show before.. none of these are professional singers and if they have the tenacity to fight it out again - why not... I would actually not mind talented people like say Raktima to try out again in some show if they think that going to help them... The little girl Aishwarya is now appearing in the Antakshari Lil Stars and I have heard in this forum before that Mauli was in the Antakshari competition before... so its their choice, I guess...

As long as the overall musical purpose for the contestant and the viewer is taken care, it should not matter
