I really miss "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005". In 2007 most of participants are not upto standard. It's kinda boring.

I specially miss

Nihira Joshi

Hemachandra

Himani

and of course Debojit and Vinit.

So what do you people say?

I agree but I wouldn't count the 2007 PV (Pratham Vishwayudh) out just yet...There are promising figures.... I would wait for the crowd to thin down a little bit...But I agree I still haven't found a Debo and Nihira just yet...

I just wish that judges didn't start their partiality game so early in the contest... 😛

yea, i agree with all of you. SRGMP 2005 was def. one of zee's classics. there was something more appealing in C2005 than in the current C2007 f'sure. 😊

I watched SRGMP challenge 2005 as well as Little Champs and now watching Challenge 2007 and ASVOI....with great disappointment, I am forced to say that none of the contestants of both Challenge 2007 and ASVOI match the voice quality or the sweetness or versatility of the contestants of Challenge 2005. Some are even worse than the Little Champ contestants...

From the little champs, I think Sanchita, Abhro, Shraddha, Pawni and Neha sing better than many singers in Challenge 2007 and ASVOI

Also I cannot find any mesmerizing performances like below:

1. Nihira Joshi
2. Himani Kapoor
3. Hemachandra (He was best in Nehi Saamne)
4. Vinit
5. Debojit
6. Abhijit Ghoshal (in song Sun Ri Sakhu)
7. Ujjaini (Black song)
8. Irfan from Hyderabad
9. Sharib (Tarap Tarap ke Dil)
10. Raktima Mookherjee (all of her songs were good, unfortunately she got eliminated early)
11. Keka Ghoshal (Raat Akeli Hai)

I mean to say that although many of the above did not make it to the top 12, but they were so good in some songs that you really think twice before eliminating them.

But I am yet to hear any such performance from the contestants of Challenge 2007 and ASVOI

do u agree?

I think we are being very unfair in comparing singers of C2005 to singers of C2007

most of the singers mentioned here came into their own only after it got to final 12 and that was months of work

every singer is different, we should try not to see what they dont have, but what they bring to the table at this stage of the competition, they will improve as they go along if the mentors work on them

I agree... Its true that C2005 singers had months of practice before Agnipariksha... and some of them participated in Fame 2005 before Challenge. The C2005 singers will always have a special place in my heart and I do miss them a lot, but that doesn't mean that the others are no good.

There are quite a few singers in C2007 with potential. We should give them a fair chance. I think Zee has done a great job in resurrecting SRGMP after loosing Gajji, musical support staff and Shaan. Starting the show off with Asha Bhonsle was a huge achievement !!! I think as the competition gets tough in the coming weeks, the performances will keep getting better.

Also, like I mentioned before, most of the better singers in C2005 had been part of previous SRGMP shows, like Nihira, Vinit, Debojit, Ujjaini, and others. So they had the experience of performing on stage and the opportunity to improve themselves during the course of the earlier shows.

Even in this competition, some singers, like Amanat, Junaid, Wasi, Sikander, have been part of SRGMP Middle East Challenge, and we can see the difference in quality between these performers and most of the Indian performers, who have never been on a show before.

Prior exposure matters a lot. And we need to give these contestants ample exposure - atleast until the Agnipariksha, before we can judge and compare them to those that have come before.
