I have been following SRGMP since Sonu Nigam days. Then it was just SRGM. The current show (also the ones like C2005) is no comparison what it used to be. It was a real test for singers...there were so many tough rounds...such great judges' (like Anil Biswas, Bilayat Khan, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Zakir Hussain, O P Nayyar, Naushad)...and great singers. The programme had quality because it was not open to public voting. With C2005, and Zee penchant for earning quick money, it lost its charm, and I guess the quality.

In fact, when reading some earlier post on this thread, I thought, that in part we are responsible for such a state. Our own standards of judging good singers and singing have gone down. Our sense of music has taken a beating, perhaps because we are exposed to too much of noise being churned out by Himesh and others. It is sad to see Vinit being branded as a good singer! In C2005, the two quality singers were - Hemchandra, and Nihira.

Unless public voting is done away with, unless they bring in better, credible judges, the show will continue to disappoint people like us, who wants to hear people sing well, and not perform well.

You are absolutely right. Even I've been watching this show from Sonu Nigam days, those glorius days, alas, are long gone by.

Yes, Nihira & Hemu were the only two quality singers of Challenge 2005. However, Himani, Debu & Vinit were also good
