Asha ji did not mince words in conveying the message that the song "Rock me baby" was inappropritae for a family show like Saregamapa which is being broadcast all over the world..Already remix videos with the height of vulgarity has plagued our music world. In all this scenario, comes a legend like Asha Bhosle and made a statement that this song is inappropriate not considering the rules of the show that they could have sung any modern film song..It is another thing the contestant didnot sing it too well and lost..You think Asha ji took a good step to protect our culture.. You think this trend in judges can go too far and any body will snub any hot number(which are in plenty).Your views😊

haan yaar. good step. she should have taken this step in the 60s itself when she was singing those steamy culture-destroing cabaret numbers.😉

arre yaar, yehi toh entertainment hai public ke liye. if the desis dont do it, folks will queue up to see the foreign stuff. why kill a budding desi industry?😆

😆😆 According to Himesh on the show.."this is the boldest ever song in the bollywood"...So probably this "hatke song" is really unique which was making A to Z uncomfortable on the stage including the mentors and the Judges and bringing those comments from Asha ji

but what culture are we talking about- the kamasutra types 😉or the medieval puritanical one? then only we can see if someone is improving upon that culture or is ruining the fun in it for the rest of the public. 😉

that would be too bad. i definitely think the choli ke peeche type of songs are very nice. music ka music, saath mein entertainment ka entertainment, naheen? 😉

but hasnt asha led a fairly colorful life, sung much the same kind of steamy stuff herself way back when? 😉since when does she find this stuff scandalous?😆 ok i can understand ghulam ali finding this stuff risque, but asha?

yaar, almost every english song has erotic "ooohs" or "baby" or "i want to make love" in it. turn on the tube to watch an english serial and there's some se*ual innuendo or the other, even in so-called tame shows. and we do have those shows telecast in India. too late i think to start repressing the freedoms back home now. that would just drive some people to the underground industries.

Just read the lyrics of the song you mentioned..Agree with you that those lyrics are bold..but somehow no body sang that song on saregamapa and this song has been choice of the 3 singers and all the three times has been able to create a controversy..Perhaps Himesh comment is true that this song is the boldest..

Agree with Rahul and Jadoo Bhaiyah 100% - She was the one to sing a lot of cabaret songs and that was bold for that era.. Helen and other Item girls used to dance for her songs and she never raised an objection singing for it.. Then why now?? She definitely went a step ahead saying those in public to that contestant.. But onething I liked is none of them asked apology, while she did.. That shows the truth..

I think you will agree with me that Asha ji has always been a very dignified presence despite the kind of songs she used to get because of other songs going to her sister..Well I don't want to write here what I saw in youtube in an english song recently..Agree those words you mention are common in English songs..

I think Himesh himself brought him into the picture.. Ashaji didnot comment on the composition but lyrics.. Perhaps ya, she was commenting on the song he has composed so he had to protect himself by saying that the song suited the situation.. And in a way he is right..

One way i feel its all scripted and other way i feel it cannot be.. Dunno which one to believe

totally agree with you on asha's dignity, grace and class- she's all that in my eyes. i just posted that on the other thread too. just disagreed on the substance of the point that she was making that's all. she could have kept that out or at least have made those comments off-camera.
