Mauli showed interest in music since she was 11 months old . She had barely learned to talk and started copying her granfather's singing. Like I mentioned Mauli has born to a family where every one can sing or play music. Seeing Mauli interested in music her grand father started teaching her surs and she was copying. her grandfather continued her training. She started learning bharat natyam when she was 3 years old.
when she came to US in 1991 they stayed for 4 years and she was learning from her mom. As her mom is both music and dancing teacher. Then her mom felt that her children needed more indian culture and mold and music and dancing so she went back with them to india. Where mauli started her music, violin,tabla art kuchipudi classes. They stayed in India till 99. Even after returning every summer vacation both her brother omkar and Mauli went back to India to learn music and also dancing.
when she was 6 years old and her parent will take her to parties where they sing she will sing kuch na kaho from love story and ye kali kali rate from bazigar and ppl will ask her to sing again and again.
While in India mauli was a child radio artist who sang for akashwani from 1996 to 1999.
When she was 12 she finished her rangpravesham in kuchipudi dancing. In ahmedabad her guru was divyang thakore and bombay she learned differetn things from different gurus. She has learned modern dancing, hiphop oddissi dancing.
She has been helpping her mother since 2000 with her music and dancing classes. She has been choreographing arangetram for her mom's disciples since 2003.
Mauili's family has a group called swar Mallka where they all perform and sing. her brother omkar too has training in both indian dancing and music as well as western dancing. They have made 2 albums. One is bhajans and other is omkar's music instrumental.
In 2003 mauli was chosen in boogie woogie US as finalist and she danced on hum pe ye kisne hara rang dala.
In 2006 Mauli was participating in antakshri where Anoo kapoor told her this is not the platform for her. She needs bigger platform and I predict this girl will go places and ppl will spend 200 dollar to see her performances.
She was also selected Miss India texas in 2007.
She has dedicated her life to dancing and music when most kids think about having fun. No wonder she is in saregampa as she has worked so hard to get where she is. With her grades in school she could have gotten to very nice college but she chose to stay near her parents and to go to a local college so she can help her mom out with her classes that shows her dedication for her parents too.

My comments: Mauli comes from well cultured well mannered nice loving family. Her parents are most dedicated people and will do anything for their children kind of parents. I have known her since she was 3 years old. She is a sweet very down to earth girl who is not influenced by western culture. She is a vegetarian. I have seen girls not even talk to you and pass you by. But not mauli she will come and hug you and talk to you. her parents are very nice loving great ppl and so is her brother omkar. Music and dancing both are in her genes as I have known and seen her aunts and family members doing the same.
