Flop show!

The auditions of Voice of India were a fiasco with only a small number of aspirants turning up

It seems that the yet-to-be-launched talent hunt Voice of India, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa (Phew! has the name scared aspirants?) has failed to rouse interest among singing hopefuls. The turnout at the auditions for the show was nothing short of dismal.

On Friday, the Mumbai zone auditions held at Bhavan's College at Andheri failed to attract enough people. Just a few hundred contestants were seen at the venue, in the place of expected 5000. Needless to say, the auditions were called off after screening those who had shown up. Those candidates who arrived a little later did not get the chance to audition. The channel has planned to telecast auditions (like Indian Idol).

That was not all. On Saturday, there was supposed to be a stage performance by the selected candidates. But, as luck would have it, due to faulty lighting arrangement, it was called off too. The judges and the host kept waiting for few hours but left eventually. Now, the shooting has been slotted for Monday.

It seems the auditions were poorly advertised. With the launch of the new seasons of Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Sony's Indian Idol, it's going to be quite a tough competition for this show. Insiders say that Gajendra Singh has been asked to pull up his socks.

Gajendra Singh, however, seemed unperturbed when quizzed about the recent development. "This is all false information. I think it's an attempt to malign my show," he said. "There were at least 6000 people who came for the audition on Friday and the selection was done by our in-house judges. I admit that there were some technical difficulties on Saturday and we could not shoot it properly. So, we will shoot it again on Monday," he added.

As for going low on publicity, Gajendra Singh said, "The show will go on air from May 18. So, I guess, the publicity will start next week. We are just keeping our fingers crossed."

I think so too. That long title of the show must have scared away the aspirants😆. Gajendra Singh's Sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa.........

I don't blame the aspirants. When you have Himesh Reshammiya, Ismail Durbar, Vishal-Shekhar holding auditions for one show, and Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar holding auditions for another, who would want to try out for Abhijeet, Alka, or Aadesh?

Maybe that's why Star decided to hold their auditions until the auditions for the other two shows got over. Only after the aspirants had been rejected there, they'd go and try out for the third show.

But it seems even they've become tired of all the auditions now - Star's show is one too many.

I would have thought that the aspirants who got turned down by Zee may have gone for this Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha etc....... show auditioning. Zee seems to have pulled it off for now but the other show has not yet begun. I wonder if its also a show for international singers or just singers from India? With Shaan and Gajji I am sure they will have some tricks up their sleeves too.😛
