Last week, singer Arnab Chakraborty (voice of Akshay Kumar for songs in Khakee and Family) almost fell off from his chair when he heard Shaan singing his portion of the song Ram milaye jodi that he had recorded for Meghna Gulzar's forthcoming film, Just Married.

Arnab, who recorded the song with Sukhwinder Singh and Sun-idhi Chauhan two months ago, was eagerly waiting the film's promos little knowing that he was in for a rude shock.

"I was casually flicking channels on my TV when I heard Shaan singing the same number which I had locked, sealed and delivered to Pritam (music director of the film) and Meghna.

I have no clue why they replaced my voice. Both Pritam and Meghna were present at the recording; neither of them expressed any displeasure then," he complains.

When contacted, Meghna said Arnab's voice did not suit the character played by Eijaz Khan, for whom he had lent his voice. "That's the only reason why we didn't go ahead with Arnab," she said.

Pritam endorsed, "I had asked for Arnab, but after the recording was over, Meghna had a different opinion.

She called me and I too then felt the same. These things happen with established singers too. I understand what Arnab is going through but he should not take it too hard.

He is young and talented and I will always support him. I will call him and explain. He's definitely going to get several opportunities in the future."

But Arnab is very upset over the fact that he was not even informed by the makers and the music director about his replacement. "If they changed their mind due to any reason, at least they should have kept me in the loop," he points out.

Just Married, produced by Pritish Nandy Communi-cations, releases in March. The film stars Fardeen Khan, Esha Deol, Perizaad Zorabian, Bikram Saluja, Eijaz Khan and Anita Hasanandani.
