It's now down to the final 21 and one of them is India's monument of love, the Taj Mahal.
Bernard Weber, the brain behind the New7Wonders Foundation, a privately funded organisation, visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Tuesday.
The trip is part of a world tour to promote 21 landmark sites across the globe that are up for voting.
Weber is ecstatic about the majesty of the monument of love.
"Taj is a strong contender, not because it is a beautiful building but also because it symbolises love and passion and that is something important for humanity and every human being can experience that and can relate to that," he said.
Based on votes :
In the biggest online campaign ever initiated by the New7Wonders Foundation in 2000, you get to choose what makes the cut from a selection of 200 existing monuments.
Since the launch of the campaign, over 19 million people have voted and the 21 finalists, including Rome's Colosseum, Jordan's ancient city of Petra, Britain's Stonehenge, the Great Wall of China, were shortlisted on the first of January by a panel of experts chaired by former head of UNESCO Federico Mayor.
The new seven wonders will be chosen on the basis of the number of votes received from across the world and the winning landmarks will be announced in a live broadcast in Lisbon, Portugal on July 7, next year.
