Rocks and Sand

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The students laughed. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

"Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed.

"The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.

"The sand is everything else, the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.

"Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

thanks...my Spanish teacher told my class the same..but she used water instead of sand (wouldn't water COMPLETELY fill p the jar??)

Another thing Mr. Adi I really feel pity for those highly educated people, as u said u have in forums, who are wasting a 14 year old kid's time. Nobody is stopping him but enjoying by involving him at this tender age, when he should be busy in doing something for his career and society.

Only one advise please forbid people less than 21 to enter this forum.

You have a knack for jumping into conclusions.How will you complete a project when you start at the Conclusion and work up to an Introduction?

If you were really into research, I would have assumed you would have contacted a few members after observing them via Pm and got first hand views straight from them. You conclude after you have gathered all the information.

Thanks for your concern but what makes you think we are lonely or pathetic? we did not say that now,did we ? This site is for all ages and has no profanity or vulgarity which can corrupt a teenager. Instead for all the kids around the world,they get to share their views, learn about some of our Indian culture and music which the parents may not be able to always help out with and also spend their time with people instead of being home alone. We seniors ensure that they are protected and well looked after. This forum is a rusult of the vision of a young man who wanted to see indians from all over the world on a common platform together discussing Indian programs, music etc..and we have very good moderators to oversee that all remain within their limits and kkeep the forum as clean as possible.

As regards to whether the kids should be allowed or not why not leave it for the individual's parents and them. If you have been following this thread I am sure you would have also seen how this 14 year old is tackling the questions. I would have thought if you were so concerned about his well bieng you would have appreciated him for just that.

Another word of advice..if this is your research project,please give your opinion in the research paper.

To put a blame on someone you need an evidence woh kahan se laoge i will say i dont know any of these people how can i do the crime😆😆
