i agree with u. i think life was a little better b4 these sms voting shows started. its a great point u brought up about karunya being voted out in the first round..well acutally i think that first impression is last impression and understanding that people like nihira, karunya, himani, and vinit took advantage of that and thats how they became successful..so they deserve the popularity and fame because their own techniques were appealing to the judges and many times it has to do with luck. there mite be so many great singers out there who didnt make and maybe thats because they didnt make the best impression for their judges, so i think its like a tacklin ur way into impressing judges...btw soryy for such a long response, lol.

Bittu Bhai - I don't know if I can explain the laws of macroeconomics in capitalist economy in a thread of Music Competition related forum!

But let me try to do that in a simpler way.

Have you heard of the term 'rolling economy'?
It means something like this - you vote by SMS - money goes to the TV channel and the mobile operators- they expand their services and size. More people get job - more buying power is created .......and so on

The rule stand the same for Bollywood movies to Bhelpuri. 😛 If we restrict ourselves in only within needs - capitalist economy will collapse - unless that is your intention (to establish socialism 😉)

On the other hand if someone doesn't vote - what will happen -will he /she will donate the money for some greater cause? Very unlikely - right?

And who vote? Only the people with the buying power. The people who are struggling to make their both ends meet - hardly bother about any Idol or Voice of India - trust me.😊

That was a wonderful explaination Soulsoup. I felt the same but couldn't have explained so well.
Besides I also feel that its just a craze right now as its a new concept but otherwise also its not just that people are voting only because its a craze, its also bcoz somehow people find themselves involved emotionally & anything emotional can't be related to economics. Or else why would we spend so much time discussing episodes & participants in this forum when we could probably do more fruitful work instead...

But then there has to be some limit on voting if talent has to be allowed to win!!

50% :voting rest all :judges

Or judges will choose bottom 2 everyweek .then public will bring one in again !!!


But I still somehow feel SMS are not good!!
And I am Thinking Somehow people (suppose a miracle happens and people stop voting) they give equivalent amount in charity!!!

Not easy to digest ,but I have started this awareness atleast at some level (IF).!!!

Now that's a separate question - talent hunt though public voting, quantifying art form is valid or not!

Trust me - in IF we have several rounds of debates regarding that!
