When Shaan announced he had to go for his world tour and hence would have to opt out of the finals of 'Ek Mein Aur Ek Tu', the music-based talent show on Zee, Gajendra Singh was literally on tenterhooks.
Both the director and the channel went into overdrive to search for a replacement who'd be accepted to the audience. After much deliberation, they decided to approach Rohit Roy to host the show.
Rohit, who is neck deep in prior commitments with 'Virasaat', 'Top 20' and a countdown show on Zee Muzic besides his several film commitments, was in no position to accommodate the dates. "I finally agreed to take on the show since Gajendra Singh expressed so much confidence in me and insisted I was the best choice," confesses Rohit.
The amiable actor had to reshuffle his schedule to work overtime for the show. "I think I came in at the right time when the interest in the show is peaking with the arrival of the finals."
Rohit has shot for two episodes of the show and has already started to enjoy his stint. "I've had enough experience hosting shows," quips Rohit, adding smugly, "I got the perfect vibes from the first episode itself. I sang 'Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan' (the Kishore Kumar number from 'Shakti') and the judges Leslie Lewis and Hariharan gave me a straight seven out of seven!"
The actor-turned-music-show-host feels that his USP would be his style quotient. "You see Shaan was a singer hosting a music show and I am an actor, so there is bound to be a difference. Shaan was very docile, which I definitely won't be," warns Rohit.
