Groovy Gurus deny veto to Twinkle and Vishwas

All who watched the fireworks on yesterday's episode of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, and expect the Groovy Gurus to use their veto power in bringing back their favourite jodi Twinkle/Vishwas, are in for a disappointment. The hosts Shaan and Ishitta put the ball in the judge's court and ask them if they will use their second and last veto vote.

Hariharan and Leslie Lewis unanimously decide not to use the veto power saying, "We can help only those who want it and it appears that you'll have lost faith in yourselves, and no longer have that enthusiasm and drive to continue in the contest. Your words express a losing spirit and, though, we have always voted you very high, it seems pointless to waste this precious vote on a jodi that has lost their competitive edge. We would rather use it for one of the remaining jodis who are ready to strive, fight and want to achieve."

To which Vishwas says in tears, "We kept hoping that the viewer would see our hard work and when that was not happening, we lost confidence."

Lewis says, "In the real world, you should be prepared for failures. You should accept the viewer's decision gracefully, work harder and not give up so easily. We used the first veto vote for Sinchan/Irfan only because they were working hard to achieve success.

But, giving it to you is not fair as the other jodis seem more determined to fight out for top spot in this contest." And his last bit of advice to both says it all. " My advice to anybody who is talented and are going to go out in the real world, take care to give importance to two things- confidence and overconfidence," says Lewis.

A recap on what occurred on the sets so far, ending with Hariharan storming off, displaying his disgust at the voting system. The Groovy Gurus have always voted Twinkle/Vishwas very high in their ratings every week. There has not been a single elimination round episode in the past few weeks that the Groovy Gurus have not voiced their unhappiness that India's votes are not tallying with their results.

But, when Hariharan walked off the sets yesterday, requesting Shaan and Ishitta for a day to decide on the veto vote, Twinkle gets carried away and says, "I can't be two faced. Public vote is a loss of talent. I should have started my struggle after Challenge 2005 and should never have come here." Her outburst leaves Leslie Lewis stunned.

That Twinkle has talent is for sure and she has been receiving many offers for music videos, serials and singing for stage shows ever since Challenge 2005 days. As every week was putting them lower in the rankings and being the borderline jodi last week really dampened their spirits. They had given up, were demoralized and just wanted to quit. But, to many who watch the show or have been following the show, they come across as a jodi who are overconfident. And, somewhere that perception was translated in the votes they received.

Speaking to Tellychakkar.com after the show, Vishwas said, "We will not accept the veto vote if the Groovy Gurus decide in our favour. If the votes are not coming in, there seems no point in trying again. Look at Sinchan/Irfan, who despite getting the veto vote to stay back had to leave when India again voted them out. We would rather let the Gurus use it for a jodi who are receiving the love and affection from viewers in India."

On hearing from Lewis what transpired after he left, Hariharan said, "My advice to both will be that if you have lost the spirit of being in the competition, you need to move on."

It turns out to be a great show, what with the very talented Paresh Rawal appearing as a guest judge on the show to promote his film, Phir Hera Pheri. Punctual, he charms all with his honest assessments after hearing each jodi sing. After the first round of songs when all the jodis perform way below their normal standards, Lewis jokes, "With Paresh on the sets today, poore sur ka hera pheri ho raha hai."

When Rajiv reveals who was upsetting his peace of mind, Rawal tells him, "One must go above these small incidents and keep in mind one's ultimate goal."
