When it was all about music

Hi all,

Looking at most of the opinions here, it can be noted that a majority of people long for the Saregama of the past, when it was all about Sur, Taal, voice throw and expression and no Chemistry, Physics etc. was involved.

I remember the golden days of Saregama when very competent judges like Late Naushadji, MD Khayyam etc. used to come and give valuable advice. Those days are gone and today's judges tell singers how to dance around and keep their breath intact at the same time. What a mockery of Saregama !😒

Just to cool it down a little , here is my link to a superb episode from the Golden Hunt. The singers are respectively Ali, Rahul Saxena, Moumita and Arpita Mukherjee. All of them were commendable.

As far as I remember the judge of Golden Voice Hunt Final was Himesh ji and he declared there that he will record songs with Rahul Saxena and Arpita Mukherjee!!
I was wondering what happened to that - anyone knows if HR recorded any songs with them?

dont know abt rahul saxena

did anu malik record with him yet

In the finals of Golden Hunt, the judges were HR, Jatin and Lalit.

You are right in some way.... but if u see the trend today.... The famous singers are like Sonu nigam, Shaan and KK who do live performances to increase their popularity.....

I have personally attended a live performance of Sonu and have seen him from very near performing.... He has changed the concept of stage performance by a singer.... The energy with which he performs and sings is amazing.... and He can sing with the energy for atleast 1 1/2 hrs.....

To be successful today.... U have to be allrounder....

I too have attended Shaan's concert in Goa recently and your point is taken well but I still feel all this so called use of stage etc. cannot or rather should not be done at the cost of music and there are better ways of increasing stamina.

BTW, in the 2004 concert in Goa, Shaan did an amazing 2 and a half hour performance.He was wearing a T-Shirt and his muscles (which are normally not seen) proved that he pays good attention to physical stamina as well.

U did not get my point.... I m not talking about the stamina....

The winners of this programs are getting a contract instead of trophys as in earlier SRGMP.... Most of the contract commitments include an album and stage shows world over..... For this purpose they organisers require the people who can sing as welll as performance..... It is not at the cost of music..... The people loved the Humma Humma of Debojit as he performed it very welll with all energy.....

All the singers in SRGM were competent to be playback singer.... Ex: Hrishikesh.... But the performers of C 2005 are getting more offers than them.... why? only thing is that they can drive the emotions as they are used to perform with singing......

Only Nihira from C 2005 sounds good even without performance as she is a versatile singer and even without performing takes on the mood of the song very well....

you are right.. For raising the TRP's of the show Saregama has lost its identity on its whole..
Why the public voting has to be brought in here,
when it was not a part in the previous series??

SRGMP has produced talents like shreya and others. It wasn worst in C2005 too.. Only singing was considered
than this performance levels..

Is it because of Gajji that performance has been brought or is it because of the judges?? 😕
